Bella's New York Style Pizza 4301 State Rd. 524 Cocoa, FL 32926

1 Star

A hop, skip, and a jump from I-95 on 524 in a convenience store, no less, is where one will find this greasy spoon. I wasn't aware that they had an eating establishment in this convenience store. They have pizza dedicated tables, and the restaurant is separate from the wanderer mart, if you get my drift (think truck stop type layout).

Jalia was my charming and helpful counter staff for the gig. I asked her for one Pepperoni roll and a slice of cheese pizza. Waiting for my order to be up gave me just enough time to take a few pictures of the place. Talk about a morose vibe.

I did, however, snap a few pictures of the food before introducing it to my seasoned palate. As one can see, this is likely some of the most uninspiring pizza outside of Rome. The Pepperoni roll was pathetic in ingredients and taste. The dough reminded me of that paste the one kid in the back of the class was eating (don't ask me how I know). If bland had an emoji, it would be this Pepperoni roll.

The Slice of Cheese Pie was next on the Big Boy's agenda. After the letdown of the Pepperoni roll, I was hoping this would make the trip worthwhile. I mean, come on, how can one beat "New York" style pizza! I still don't know what that means. Does it come with a thick Bronx accent and Queens attitude? All I know for sure is that this representation of the vaunted NY-style pizza was pitiful. The sauce was straight out of a can of food service bottom-tier products. The cheese tasted like it came right out of the freezer, if you know what I mean. It left a slightly processed cold-air aftertaste on the tongue. Not something one looks for in pizza. I know what you're thinking. "So, Big Boy. If it's this woeful, why not a SWILL ALERT?" One reason and one reason only, it's still miles above the slop they pass off as food at Doghouse Pizza.

The Big Boy says, "Grab something at the store if in need, but skip the eatery. There is better pizza in your freezer....

Previously when we've gotten delivery from here it's been pretty good. But last night I ordered pickup to get on my way home from work and we had a bad experience. I don't know if prices changed dramatically, but we were charged $47 and some change for a small (16") margherita and a small (16") meat lovers for pick up in store. $50 for two pizzas seems high, but I wasn't given a receipt and I was told the prices on the menu were a misprint, so I have no way of checking. From the menu I have that's nearly a $10 "misprint", which is pretty significant if each pizza is $5 more than the menu says.

If the price is $50 for two pizzas, the price is $50 for two pizzas. But being at that price did make me feel more judgemental of the pizza. The middle of the meat lovers was cold and less done than the rest of it. Normally I'd chalk that up to being a heavy pizza and move on with my life but at $25 for a small I felt upset. We aren't sure if it's actually different or if we're just being more picky because of the price, but we also felt like the sauce tasted worse than it did before. That could be a mental thing on our part, we really can't tell. Either way, I don't really think I'd recommend...

We tried Bella's for the first time a week or so ago and we loved the pizza. We are original New Yorkers and this definitely reminded us of pizza from there. We had the Jersey White with black olives and sausage. It was perfection and had a lovely fluffy crust that was not too soft or too crunchy. We loved the pizza. Today we reordered it along with a meatball parm sub. When we got our pie it was missing the toppings. I ran back inside quickly and explained. I think it was Carlos who apologized and asked me to give him 15 minutes to make me a fresh one. He brought the pizza to our car where we were waiting and he gave us back the original pizza he made as well as the new one. Then he gave us a $25 gift card. The pizza tasted wonderful and the meatball sub was good too. The meatballs had a nice savory taste and the marinara sauce was perfect not too sweet. The bread was a little hard in spots but overall taste of the sub was great. We feel they made it up to us quite nicely and we appreciate the effort. We will be back to...

We tried Bella’s for the first time last night after seeing a recommendation on Nextdoor for their pizza. And the pizza was great! We will definitely come back for more. However, we decided to try the wings as well and we couldn’t even eat them. They were not crispy at all. They were not tossed in bbq sauce but just topped with it which did not cover all the wings, especially the ones on the bottom. We still look forward to more pizza & trying other things. Updated 3-29-23. Unfortunately I had to take a star away. We tried Bellas for a 2nd time recently. The pizza wasn’t as good as the first time. Finding the hit or miss issue with other pizza as well so that didn’t really take the star away. I deducted a star for the very runny marinara sauce that we were given for our garlic knots. We had even purchased an extra marinara before knowing how runny it is just to have to throw it away. That is 2 things we couldn’t eat now. The wings on the first visit then the marinara on the second. Won’t be trying Bellas again for a while if at all.
