We chose to go to Bardenay this time fully because we had been there before and felt it was always consistent. Got my chicken salad and once I began to eat it found a lot of slimy lettuce in the mix. I picked through it and ate some of the non slimy parts and never had a server come check on how it was. Finally after we sat there for a long time, a busser came to remove plates. At that point I stated - you may want to give th kitchen a heads up on their salad mix since it’s past it’s prime and slimy. Sat there for a while longer wanting to leave and get our check. Finally gave up on that and went to the bar to pay and leave. At that point I stated to the person at the bar the same thing - to let the kitchen know about the salad mix. I was told I “should have said something and could have had it remade”. I stated that I did not have a server check on us once I started eating the salad. So she brought the check and I noticed it was all full price. I said “will you take anything off for that” she said “no, that’s not our policy, you shouldn’t have eaten it”. To which I replied that I hadn’t actually eaten it. I literally picked the salad and the few fried wonton strips out of the salad and the rest was on the plate with slimy parts very visibly placed on the side of the plate which she wouldn’t have known since she did not see my plate. We won’t be back now. I was willing to give a chance if you’d made it right but you didn’t. First time in YEARS that I have not tipped a server. I’m a former restaurant owner and have worked in the business previously for years. I tip even if things are iffy. In this case- the orange haired girl at the bar made zero attempt to assist, showed a complete lack of care, and 100% acted like I was trying to scam them. Not the way to treat your customers. When I told her I was sorry that I had to share this with her because it wasn’t her fault as an employee and that possibly this is a management issue she stated “oh no- we have the best management” so guess she wants to take the blame here. 🤷🏼‍♀️ As a side note- the Reuben isn’t as good as it used to be and the slaw tasted both bland and off at the same time. Bean soup was meh.

I was planning to just be in touch with the managers and not write a public review but the way I was treated made me decide others need to know. We...

Updated review: friends drink was strawberry lemonade. It was see through and watery. She asked a nearby waitress why it would taste like that her reply was I think it's made with nectar. No ask if she may want a replacement. Now for my food. My waitress was super nice and wanted to make sure I knew what I wanted. I was having a hard time deciding sometimes I cant stomach things so I went easy and decided on a burger 🍔🍟. It was described in the menu one way and brought out to me deconstructed as If I asked for it that way. Who in the world would want a cup filled to the brim with peanut sauce that was so thick It was like old toothpaste?? When my plate was sat on the table the fries were ice cold and the burger barely warm🥶🥶 I.picked one up immediately. I told the waitress she brought another plate of fries within just five mins...those were ice cold too! The burger was plain not even seasoned. The Little bit of pink was perfect!!! It was super mediocre and almost like the person making it forgot to put the burger together. We only wanted to spend a shorter amount of time there !! well our food for four people two people salads, me a burger and fries , and one like cold salad plate took almost an hour to receive. I didn't want to be mean to the waitress she was too nice..the food has changed. I've been coming to this place for over past 5 years. I know there are staff issues at many places. The influx of people since I moved here 12 years ago is crazy but.. this place is in my backyard and I Walk to it and would love to have things go better next visit. I do appreciate people working hard to do things for others. It's just if your gonna work hard why not do it right. Oh the pickles tasted spoiled. Literally. This visit was on Friday April 5th, 2024.

This part of the review was from three years ago :Perfect visit for my friend Hannah's burthday!!!!! Thanks bardenay!!

And another visit with these pics for my brother visiting...

Overall pretty disappointing first visit. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars, is because the food I had actually tasted pretty decent. Just don't expect a friendly atmosphere, good service, or half of the items on the menu to actually be "in stock."

Decided to try them out, as they were on the restaurant week list. We arrived to the restaurant, and the hostess was very cold, and rude. She seemed irritated to have to seat us, even though we were there hours prior to closing, and they had roughly 20 empty tables. She was not pleasant and seemed angry to be working there.

We got seated, and our drink order was taken. My girlfriend had asked for a straw once our drinks had arrived. After about 7 or 8 minutes, I finally just walked up to the bar and got a straw for her. Another 7 or 8 minutes later the waitress arrived with a straw...the waitress was very low energy, and not engaging at all.

The reason we came was for restaurant week. When I ordered off the restaurant week menu, they were "out of stock" on several items, which was super annoying as restaurant week just started yesterday. My girlfriend ordered a club sandwich off the regular menu, and was told they were also out of stock on this. Bizarre.

All I all, I hate having to ask waitresses or waiters for drink refills. When my glass is low, itd be great just have someone take initiative, to simply bring a refill. She was not very attentive to our needs at all.

The food arrived and was plated nicely. It also tasted pretty good, considering our first and second options were completely gone.

All in all, I don't think I'll return to eat here, primarily due to the staff. I prefer high energy and happy people, not unpleasant staff with mediocre service. Again, they were not busy when we were there, so it isn't a matter of being short staffed or anything. It's a matter of, wrong staff and management not ordering/buying ingredients to make the items...

This place is a new favorite! Never been before but brought some out of town family. We were all very impressed! I’ve walked/driven by several times and somehow never realized it was here. Adds to the charm, feels tucked away. Went on a Saturday (late) evening, beautiful environment both inside and out—no reservation, was able to pick our seating (not sure if it’s always that way or just when less busy) food was incredible—had wings and brussel sprout appetizer. I’m not usually big into veggies but they were great, I will order again. The wings were a mango habanero, perfect glaze with a kick not too sweet or spicy, best blue cheese ever. Had a mushroom pasta main dish that didn’t disappoint either. I am predominantly on carnivore diet so when I splurge for a carb/pasta meal I like to feel it was well worth it. Couldn’t finish it all and you know it’s good when you’re excited to bring the rest home. Each dish was a well done recipe you can tell they had worked to perfect. I feel a lot of thought went into their menu items, there is something for everyone which is hard to find. This is the perfect place when you want to eat somewhere high quality and still relaxed. In today’s economy the prices are very fair. Wish I remembered our servers name because she was the greatest—very nice, knew the menu and was able to give good advice on ordering when we asked her opinion. Honestly had trouble narrowing down what to order because I wanted to try it all. Tip well, they deserve it here! Solid 5 star on all fronts, will be back many times over.

We are in town visiting and got a take-out order tonight. I started off by telling the gentleman who was taking my order over the phone that I would be ordering for 4 ppl and that everything needed to be gluten free. Now we aren’t Celiacs, but 3 of the 4 of us have sensitivities to gluten and the 4th person is keto, and 2 of us are sensitive to dairy. So I proceeded to order from their gluten free menu, which seemed really great and is posted online. The guy repeated things back and seemed to understand everything, saying he would have them hold the croutons on the Caesar salad, and I asked him to hold the croutons and cheese on the house salads that come on the side. When my husband went in to get the order, the guy even said “2 house salads with no cheese or croutons” but I’m guessing you can guess where this is going: the 2 house salads had a ton of shaved cheese and croutons on them. They were for my daughter who is both gf and dairy free, so obviously she couldn’t eat these. If you are Celiac, stay clear of this place, and if you are GF, be careful; they will likely get some of your order wrong. Luckily we had enough food amongst us to share with my daughter, but this doesn’t excuse the lack of attention to detail and follow up that was kindly requested here. The rest of the food seemed to be gf (we’re crossing our fingers), but we are not likely to go back during our stay, nor on future visits. I called to speak with the manager after we got back home but no one answered the phone.

We used to be regulars back when they first opened but have moved on over the last couple of years due to the seemingly nightly loud crowds and decreasing attentive service we've experienced. We finally rallied the troops and made a return for dinner. Anxious to see if the original Bardenay experience could be found again we went early on a Thursday night and did find the restaurant to be much quieter overall. That was a welcome change. The food was good for the most part except the pork tacos lacked any real flavor and were small for what they charge. Unfortunately the service was VERY slow and inattentive. We were sat and then waited a long time to be greeted by our server. When we finally did get to order, the meals took about twice as long as we felt they should have. Again... Bear in mind this was on an early Thursday evening outing, with a half-full restaurant. They need to do better. Sad that a place with this potential doesn't get the details right.
