12.19.24: We live an hour away and it was my first time at this location. The purpose of this visit was to have a good meal out and redeem my birthday burger. When we walked in, we were greeted and sat immediately. Our server, Olivia, welcomed us and got our drink order right away. I told her about our visit and she said it was easy to redeem the birthday burger reward and wished me a happy birthday month, which was nice. I used the tablet at the table to login to my Red Robin royalty club and I could see my birthday burger ready to be redeemed.
We both ordered bottomless cream sodas. We both tried the raspberry and my friend also tried the candied orange cream, which he really liked. I loved the raspberry and it reminded me of a creamy Italian soda, which I often get at coffee shops.
For an appetizer, we ordered the shorty onion ring tower, which comes with 6 huge onion rings. The fry was a perfect crunch and went well with the smokey BBQ and ranch dipping sauces. As for entrees, we both ordered The Southern Charm burger. It came with candied bacon, their signature whiskey river BBQ sauce, cheddar, caramelized onions, lettuce, and mayo. I got mine with a side of sweet potato fries and my friend ordered his with the steak fries. My burger came out with a perfect cook of medium-well and the sweet potatoe fries were made just how I like: slightly overcooked with a good crisp and not soft soggy potato. The blend of all the ingredients made for a tasty burger and I would order it again.
Side note: I snapped a pic of non-beef burger options which are: the impossible burger, veggie burger, and a turkey burger. See pic for descriptions. Red Robin is also running a promo gift card bundle (see pic for details).
I'm all about dessert and when I ordered the new lemon cream later cake--our server, Olivia, to my surprise asked if I would also like the free ice cream sundae for my birthday and of course, I said yes. My friend ordered a single fudge filled chocolate chip cookie (you don't have to order 5 like the menu says). The cookie arrived warm and gooey and my friend said he liked it. The lemon cream layer cake was massive and was so delicious. The lemon flavor was subtle and not the punch you in the face tart taste, and the lemon cream cheese frosting mixed well as it was creamy and paired nicely with the strawberry sauce. The vanilla fudge sundae is exactly what you expect, vanilla ice cream, chocolate fudge sauce, whipped cream, and sprinkles. Mind you, I've already had a huge piece of cake but I definitely didn't let the sundae go to waste. It was a nice cold treat to end an epically huge meal.
We came during lunch time and the ambience was festive with Christmas decor. It didn't seem too busy but noticed a few large tables of holiday gatherers. It didn't effect our service as Olivia was awesome and really attentive. We definitely plan to visit this location again, probably...
Read moreTypically I’d give this 8-9/10 stars, however I recently had a frustrating experience. On Friday I went to pick up my online order (even added tip) to our almost $70 order. I arrived 10min late from the time I had initially set to grab the order. Called the to go order number and the women on the phone asked what number I was parked in. I said 4 she said great we will have a team member bring out your food soon…..I waited for 35min in the car with two crying, hungry toddlers. Finally asked my 13 year old to just go in and grab it and see what the hold up is. My son came back out saying we were supposed to go inside and pick up the order. Which would have been fine if someone had told me that when I was on the phone. But was told it would be brought out to us. We live in Spirit Lake so we’re a good 40min drive or so from the CDA location. Immediately before driving away I notice two of our sauces spilt all over the inside of our bag. But it wasn’t worth going back in. Get home, and my hamburger and my daughters (tavern double) was cold which I expected. Mine tasted different then normal aside from it being cold the taste was off. I ate 3 bites and threw it away. My daughter had maybe 4 bites and also threw hers away. Next morning my daughter is throwing up, extremely sick. I immediately think food poisoning or E Coli. She was completely healthy hours before that. The rest of us were fine. Take her to the emergency as she was now throwing up/diarrhea for 48 hours just miserably in pain. Doctor confirmed he thought it was a bad case of food poisoning. So unfortunately maybe that would have been avoided if we got our order at a decent time from the time I had set. Now she’s terrified to eat here again, and it was just very frustrating. Not the type to ever complain, human error happens. I think maybe I have to much patience and just kept waiting out there because I didn’t want to bother anyone figuring any moment it would come out to us. If my son hadn’t gone in I don’t think it would have ever been brought out to us. I wish I didn’t tip, and in the future I won’t tip on online orders. I’m consistently disappointed with in general most restaurants online ordering systems. Anyways, it is what it is. Definitely won’t do online ordering here again, and future will just come inside to eat if we do end up eating here again. Side note: my son said it was pretty dead in there, nobody even waiting so it wasn’t even because...
Read moreWe had the worst experience last night. Went for a family dinner to enjoy some time together and left frustrated. I ordered the chicken sandwich with guacamole and bacon which I've had at another location and it was awesome. My first bite I notice the consistency is just not right. It felt like rubber and I started to pull some of it apart to see if it was cooked and it was slimy. Definitely a low quality chicken. So the server was very nice and offered to make me the same thing in a burger. We were also still waiting on my daughters chicken tenders because they said "we dropped them on the ground" and they had to make new ones. So they eventually brought me the burger and it was very good the first couple of bites. Then I look down and there is a dark longer hair wrapped in by the meat and cheese. I couldn't believe this was happening to me. I immediately felt sick to my stomach. We showed the server and she was very apologetic and brought the manager. They offered something else but I could not possibly eat at this point. Sat there while my family finished their food. The manager took 25% off our bill and gave my girls a free dessert. If I were a manager and this happened I can say that no one would be paying anything for a family dinner that was not enjoyable. We came to eat together and I left hungry. It's easy to say things happen but a hair being in my burger is completely unacceptable and it makes me wonder if it was on purpose seeing as it happened after I complained about the chicken. I don't know if I can ever bring myself to go back there after that. The sad part is that the service was really good. The young man hostess was extremely nice and our server was kind and attentive also and the manager who helped us was friendly and apologetic. And this happened after a bad experience 2 weeks ago ordering Red Robin using the Door Dash app. We got our food that day 25 minutes late and the fries were soggy and cold, but I blame Door...
