In an effort to not be crass, I will preface this by saying anyone with a negative review has a dense object arriba their behind😅 Now, to spoil the ending, my experience at this restaurant was incredible. I’m not just talking about the food, staff, or atmosphere individually; this place felt like home. From the moment I walked in the door Liz, Erica, “The Boss,” and even fellow Patrons of the Bar contributed to the best restaurant experience I’ve had for a very… very long time. If you’re questioning my opinion, or rather my expertise, know that I was raised in the most welcoming restaurant down south who prides themselves in making every person feel like one of our own. Okay okay I’ll get on with it since I know you want to know about the food. It needs no other explanation other than it was drool worthy. Again, “The Boss” and I’m guessing the real Boss (“the boss’” wife) just love the food they serve. They shared samples of candied bacon with me and photos of their creations as we spit bs. In conclusion, they are amazing because they love what they do. They love the food, they love their regulars, and they love the strays like me that wander in on a Sunday afternoon. It’s easy to conclude that, every time I visit CDA I’m stopping at Relic first.

DO NOT judge this restaurant by the exterior (or do..... we can keep it for us locals). Wow! Just WOW! Relic Smokehouse is fall off your stool unbelievably great food. My husband ordered the brisket, i ordered ribs and brisket and (creatures of habit we are) we both ordered the mac & cheese and beans for sides. The food was out of this world outstanding. It comes with 3 different sauces: regular bbq (good), hot bbq (amazing!!) And hot mustard (outstanding). Loved that the meat came "dry" so you could add your sauce of choice - problem is we loved them all. The meat was literally melt in your mouth tender, and the flavor was outstanding. The mac & cheese should be its own food group - its THAT good. It's housed in a historic building with an unassuming front. It is our new favorite regular spot. Just an update: we've had the Moose Turds (bacon wrapped cheese filled jalapeños) appetizer and they are FANTASTIC. Absolutely love their baked potatoes, baked yams, cucumber and onion salad, as well as their reuben sandwich. All are incredible, and the hardest part is deciding which to order when we go.

Good Bar-B-Q. Some of the best I've had in Idaho. Some of the items were as good as the rustic pig in Fruitland Idaho. Service was not as good as the Rustic, but was better than Bodacious Pig in Eagle. We had a few of the combo platters. After sampling the different meats we confirm the brisket is the best item on the menu. Service was good, albeit a little slow, we came around 1:00, ordered, got our food a little after 2:00, and left about 3:00. We were not in a rush though so all was good. If you want Barbecue in Coeur d’Alene I recommend coming here for some solid food. We probably won’t come back, but not saying it’s a bad place at all. I like the decor and the food was good. Some of the other reviews have talked about the noise - I think it has to do with the acoustics of the room being a half moon with shiplap siding. We were one of three parties, but one of those was a party of six with a woman who was maniacally laughing the entire meal. We were happy when her food came! This is the reason we won’’t come back.I imagine the room is deafening when busy.

The prices on Google are false, today June 2025 everything was 5-20 dollars more than advertised. The food had no flavor, the brisket had to be cut with knife it was so dry it seemed like it sat out too long it was a bit cold. You don't get to pick the sauce you want, at least not if you've never been before like us. The baked potato was disgusting, the skin was stale like an over microwaved potato, and the smoke they used was disgusting, the sour cream that comes with it was just pure liquid and grainy. We didn't get waited on till 30 minutes of us sitting at our table unable to hear each other because the person that was playing live music had it so loud you can't hear each other or talk. Then after we finally get waited on we get drinks and the lady told us they had Pepsi products and when my husband tried to order a mountain dew they said they didn't have that only Pepsi, starry, root beer and something else I couldn't hear (so clearly you have Pepsi but you do not infact have Pepsi PRODUCTS). The only beverages they have listed on their menu is alcohol or mocktails. After we placed our order is was an hour before we got our food and 45 more minutes of loud music, which we were forced to give a request from a guy who had a dog with him by slamming a pad and pencil on our table. So when we did we gave them a $5 and put in a request. The person playing the music said they couldn't find it, then the group sitting with the guy with the dog found it and he tried for 2 seconds then said he couldn't and skipped us and still kept the tip. All the while my husband had finish their drink and the ice had melted in that hour of waiting for our food. The waitress had told us it was because a big order got placed and that took priority. When we did finally get our food I asked if my husband could get a refill and she brought over these other cup with drinks and no ice and then used them to pour the soda into our previous cups, I had no problem with this, however the ice in my husband's glass had already melted and she just poured the drink into it instead of at least dumping the old ice and getting fresh ice. And then we were given hour food finally but there was no flavor and it all tasted old. My husband ordered the smokey Mac n cheese and it was over done and tasted left to sit with cold cheese grated over it. I do not recommend coming here to eat it's not a very good experience and too expensive for what you get. Not only are the Google prices wrong but so are the picks of the food, it's much smaller amounts. Will not...

Sadly a one star is the best I can give. We've had too many poor experience here. This was our 3rd or 4th time in the past two months. Used to like to bring friends here that haven't been, won't any more. The four of us ordered. Waitress came back and said they were out of some meats and sides, reordered with what she said was available. She came back again saying out of more meats and sides, reordered. She said she would comp my friend an item because she had to reorder so much, we didn't ask for it but thought it was nice. Waitress came back and said they were out of the item she was going to comp so "we were just outta luck." Food was ok, only one of us got the Brisket because they were out and it was a very small serving, about half of normal. Chicken has good smoke flavor but is dry as a bone. Check came, paid and left 25+% tip. Waitress said she couldn't remember what we all had to drink so she only charged us for one drink, we laughed and I said "good, because only one of us had a drink and the other three had waters." I later realized after looking at the check, that the item they were going to comp us for (give free), and they were out of so we didn't even get, she charged us for. Now that is poor service. Sorry Relic, won't be back and won't bring/send friends here. You are always out of the meats and sides that most people come for and your staff makes way too many mistakes. How can you run out of potatoes 3 out of 4 times that we have been there? We are in Idaho, potatoes are a food staple.

PROS: *Food has good smoke flavor/taste *Local business *Quaint atmosphere

CONS: *Some meats are dry as a bone - chicken and pork *Limited menu, out of most meats and sides even at 6pm on a Friday or Saturday *Poorly trained staff. Ok at best, poor at worst *Can be long waits - normal for the CDA area *Staff handles eating utensils/straws with bare hands after touching/wiping face and handling money. Didn't see waitress wash hands a single time - that's...

Horrible will never go back. Waited 45 minutes for a BLT and hot dog. Had a bowl of clam chowder that was lukewarm when my husband got it. His side for the BLT was a baked potato that was half done. After waiting so long we were hungry and the lady waiting on us seemed really busy plus a huge part of me was also afraid that if I said anything it would take another 45 minutes and we just really wanted to go home.

I did tell her when she brought the bill. I was not looking to get money back but just so shecould give feed back to the kitchen. I then got upset when she said well you ate half the potato the middle so there was nothing that could be done. Sersously, most of it was to hard to even poke the fork in. When we mentioned the soup being cold she said well you probably ate your sandwich first. NO I tasted the soup right away and it was at best lukewarm, I know if we had sent it back we would still be there, also the soup just was not good, it just really had no taste to it.The waitress said they were training new kitchen help.

It might help not to do that on a Friday night when they are packed. Also we were not the only customers upset serval others were also at how long they were having to wait.

In all honestly it just didn't make any sense at how long the wait was. The restaurant was totally packed and no one was getting food. We saw only to go orders going out. It was just a very strange evening. I think it would have helped if our waitress had at least acknowledged our wait, come to our table part way through and said something about the wait but none of the staff was really saying anything to the coustomers and we all just seemed to be sitting there like sheep.

In hindsight I wish we had just left and went someplace else even through we had placed our order. I always have a hard time being rude but honestly this place was rude in how they treated...
