BE AWARE- NOT CHILD FRIENDLY- discrimination against FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN (especially younger ones). Went one time, GREAT EXPERIENCE. Decided to come back a week later - HORRIBLE experience. It also happened to be on my birthday. My husband and I, being in our mid 30’s have a very well behaved 3 year old. The first time we came was on a Saturday evening, so the restaurant was pretty full. We sat in one of the half booths, since that was all that was available. WITH OUR 3 year old. The waitress was so sweet and welcoming as well as the woman who sat us. Great service and the food was pretty decent.
When we came back for my birthday dinner- a completely different experience. The manager on staff was going to seat us, in a completely empty dining room, at one of the tables…I saw a booth open and asked if it would be alright to seat at the booth instead. AGAIN, completely empty dining room. She then turned to us and said “well we try to keep the little ones out of the booths because they can get messy”. I had no idea, a place that has CHILDREN’S menus discriminate where the parents of a child can and cannot sit because they have a CHILD. When I told her my complaint and how uncomfortable it made us feel, she said the owner tells them to try and keep “children” out of the booths as much as possible. Perhaps the owner should’ve invested in a different material for her/his booths in a public restaurant when considering making it also child friendly. I refused to give one more dime to a restaurant that discriminates against children and families, yet has children’s menus. So we got up and left, and my daughter (who loved the restaurant the first time we came), was screaming and crying devastated we were leaving. Thank you for making my birthday SO WONDERFUL. Lol.
I told the manager she needs to let her owner know the complaint. In addition- I said I’d be happy to email her or him myself. Never got that managers name- and all she told me was “note taken” and to “relax”. she was a blonde woman with shorter hair. We will NEVER be returning for this reason. If you cannot accept my child, you cannot accept me- and darn sure don’t deserve a penny! Horrible. Get new booths with “cleanable” material and a new manager....
Read moreThoroughly enjoyed a visit tonight at the Vine & Olive Eatery and Wine Bar in Riverstone.
Before I tell you what I ordered, let me preface it with this: they have a beautiful menu of Meishi Oysters, Olives, Salmon, Caesar Salads, Flatbreads, Ricotta Gnocchi, Chicken, Steak, Biscotti and desserts. That bring said, I always like to order around the edges of the menu.
I've heard raves about the braised octopus and had to try it before it goes off the menu for the season. By far the best I've ever had. Matter of fact, I've never had anything like it. I would also road trip for a good escargot for real, and I ordered it there at Vine and Olive. It was really fantastic and "perfectly executed!" So well prepared I tipped the chef.
Naomi Boutz, the owner, always greets and visits every table. I know her from photographing food and atmosphere from Sizzle Magazine. She's very intelligent, loves to talk wine and cuisine, is super friendly and has built a great and memorable place in the heart of Coeur d'Alene that will be a fixture and favorite for years to come.
Great style, comfortable atmosphere and a super cool high-foodie vibe. Wonderful. Thanks for the tip, especially from you, Lou Chandler....
Read moreVery quaint restaurant with a chic vibe . The culinary team on deck know a thing or two about food .. speaking as a chef myself. My colleagues were treated well by the bartender. I would have given this place 5 stars but there was an incident with the “fresh oyster “ .. come on guys you can’t through all your hard work away by not doing something as simple as checking your shellfish tags and giving each one a visual look over .. when in doubt throw it out . One of our oysters was very cloudy and starting to turn . I was a little embarrassed because I was the one who recommended the place to my colleagues and of course you know chefs ., they gave me a hard time for the rest of the week. To be fair people shouldn’t order fresh oysters early in the week because chances are they are flown in fresh Friday morning for weekend service specifically because that’s when smart people order fresh seafood. I digress and still stand by my word this is a great place with great people.. just keep on eye on all details otherwise you guys got it...
