Short's Root Beer Stand — Restaurant in Coldwater

The food we ordered was amazing! We expect better tasting food and some food that we cant get other places at drive-ins. They took it up a level. We stopped in while passing through on a road trip. We ordered corn dog, fried green beans, French fries, Chile cheese dog, taco salad and root beer floats. The corn dog was the best I've ever had! And more people need to try it. The fries will top any that you've tried, crispy not hard the inside soft not hallow, delicious and filling, the best! The taco salad had everything in it a taco would, it was huge and was saved for a meal for two the next night, it was huge and very good, fried green beans delicious crispy yet the green bean tender and firm, the Chile dog I can't tell ya that was his and he ate it too fast to know, now the bad, come on your a drive in and only one little scoop of ice cream? The food was beyond expectation, the service excellant and wait time wasn't long at all but the root beer float didn't match the quality of the food and fell short. Stopped while passing through for lunch. A fusion of the old drive in car hop with the use of technology for ordering. Initially we were confused why the server could not take our order. Instead she instructed us to call the phone number on the menu. Even with 3 different orders the process was efficient. Food ordered varied from coney dogs (good) to chicken nuggets (good) and a fried breaded chicken sandwich which was phenomenal. I ordered an espresso coffee shake which was very sweet and lacking any coffee flavor whatsoever. Would not order that again. My wife ordered the Chicago dog and it was fantastic. Two in our group ordered the corn dogs, one regular and one the jumbo. Both were hand breaded but the breading seemed very thin and slightly oily. One liked it the other did not. Service was a little slow because the place was almost packed. Our total time there was an hour and 15 minutes to feed 8 people. Short's has a great selection of food you don't see in common restaurants and the good ol classics like a simple burger. If you don't feel like getting out of the car you can pull up and they'll come out to you, or pull in next to the building and stop inside.

Or if you're craving a milkshake, they have a HUGE variety of flavors to choose from. I absolutely love their chocolate malt, their malt flavor is very good, not like the cheap malt flavoring most places have now-a-days.

If you like ranch they have a fantastic one that I feel they may mix in house, if not I need to get the brand. But it goes well with their chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks for sure.

Last but not least their root beer is awesome, though that is subjective (I prefer barqs root beer over most) this root beer is sure to please most.
