Customer Service is great here. Staff is very polite and familiar with the menu. Salsa and chips I had for appetizers while waiting for dinner were very good. The salsa was fresh and spicy. It was very thick and stuck to chips. The chips were fresh and crisp. A great combination. They have breakfast all day. Plus the serve Mexican food, American food, sea food, salads, deserts, and more! The menu is massive. I ordered the fried catfish. It was a very thin fillet. Crisp and tasty. Not as meaty as I would of liked, but still good because the batter reminded me of the Sunday meals my grandfather would cook up when I was a kid. The fries are homemade, but a little too oily for me. Salad was fresh and tasty too. I did not use any dressing. They helped celebrate two birthdays while I was eating and it was nice tof see. A very family friendly stop worth making.

Our South Texas bunch stopped in while in the area for an event. Besides calling tacos burritos it's very comparable in Tex-Mex flavors from home. If you are hankering for a glass of sweet tea, they can serve that right up- it's sweet! We rate resturants on tea and chips and they did well on both. The chips were thin and cripsy and salsa had a pleasant kick to it. Only reason why we gave them a 4-star rating is how hot the dining area was when we were there. Albeit was 103° outside that day, it was a humid 83°inside, even though it was set to 72°. Made our tummys churn from the heat. So we packed up our plates and took them to go. The food was very tasty and was even good when we reheated it later. Would be happy to stop in again, when cooler.

Although they’ve got great staff I’m less than pleased. The catfish was small chunks of fish that were mostly from the fry and basically no fish in it and the shrimp were $1 a piece for pretty small shrimp. When they told me they was $1 each I expected something of decent size. The fries tasted like they were older as well. Probably won’t be coming back here, I remember when this place was literally the best place I’d eaten. Their servers are amazing though, super sweet and very helpful

I "DEARLY LOVE" Dora Salas (My "BEST FRIEND", Gabriel Rosales's daughter..."RIP, Gabe!!") and Carmen!! Two ladies that are "GREAT" for the Restaurant!! However, the "POOR" service of " SOME" (Not ALL, I'm sure!!) of the waitresses needs REPAIR!! Today is October 18, 2021. I returned recently from breakfast. It might have been my taste buds being "off", but I didn't drink too much of the milk, because it tasted bad to me. I left "2/3" of a "LARGE GLASS" where I sat!! I told the girl who checked me out that I would go ahead and pay for it, because it might have been my taste buds being off, but I didn't know if the milk was going bad or not. "INSTEAD" of being FRIENDLY and "APOLOGIZING" for the experience one way or the other, she "ARGUED" with me, and said that she opened a brand new one and checked the expiration date!! Well, maybe she did....or maybe she didn't..... even if she "DID"...."I" was kind enough to tell her it "might" be "my" taste buds being off and I would "GO AHEAD" and "PAY FOR IT!!!" I felt like "SHE" was "RUDE" to me!! I left a $2 tip on the table. I could have gone and taken it back, but "I" CAN'T BE "THAT" RUDE!!" I won't be going back, and if anyone asks me about Hidalgos, I'll say it's all good except for "POOR"customer service (of "SOME")!! Unless Carmen waits on you, you're on your own as far as friendly customer service goes. Dora Salas works the register. She's not a waitress, though she would be a GOOD and FRIENDLY one, like Carmen. I'm 67..... Opinionated....and that's my HONEST opinion of Hidalgos Mexican Restaurant in...

I had their special of the day a Mexican roast dish and it was fatty and tasted like it was cooked, frozen and then reheated in a microwave. Very low quality meat, one of the poorest quality Mexcan dishes I have ever had in a Mexican restaurant.

My wife had chili rellenos and it tasted good.

It took a long time for us to get our food. Started our 3rd basket of chips before we received our food.

Hot sauce was on the bland side with very little flavor. They need to add more peppers, plus a little cilantro to improve the quality of the hot sauce. Chips were standard bag average tortilla chips.

Service was good and friendly

Restaurant ceiling is nasty. Inside needs a good cleaning. Makes me wonder if the kitchen is dirty.

It could be a gem of a restaurant with some work, paint and cleaning but may need some local competition to see improvement.

I recommend a drive to MA's in Santa Anna or to Brownwood or Abilene for...
