I'll preface this by saying I don't go out of my way to give bad reviews but this was such an entertaining experience in the worst way that I felt compelled. In fact, I'm going to go leave some good reviews of great local establishments after this to make up for it.
Also, I'll note that I used to frequent Dine n Dash 5+ years ago and it was great back then. It had been many years.
Today, upon entering the building we were asked by the waitress if we wanted to sit at the bar. As we peered around the bar and dining area there were many open seats and booths so I think we were a little confused why she was offering the bar first. Abruptly and rudely she asked again, "Do you want the bar or not?" and proceeded to impatiently squeeze by me saying "excuse me!".
After telling her that we would prefer a table in the dining area she grabbed menus and walked away without saying a word. A food runner stood by awkwardly to whom we asked "Should we follow her?" - to which she shrugged and replied "I don't know".
We decided to risk it and follow the waitress who had placed menus at the table. She asked for our drink order which was coffees, an OJ and waters.
"Are you going to actually drink the waters?" she asked. "Because I've had to throw a ton out today." Wow. In my entire life I have never been asked that by a waitress. I didn't get the impression she was an environmentalist if you know what I mean.
The menu was noticeably overpriced, even if it had been good food.
My partner asked for cheese on her potatoes. The potatoes made it to the table but without the cheese. Shocking. We notified the food runner (who was friendly and great) and she came back with about a tablespoon of shredded cheese in a ramekin.
While I was enjoying my undercooked potatoes and pricey huevos rancheros with canned refried beans, the waitress made sure to top off our waters!
Can't speak for the lunch items or the rest of the wait staff but pretty hilariously bad breakfast...
Read moreSo my wife and I were heading up to the snow and we decided to stop by here for breakfast. I ordered their regular breakfast with a hamburger patty. So initially the price isn’t terrible but it’s $5 for a hamburger patty that is maybe a 1/4 pound at most. Not sure about you but that’s pretty small for $5, even with inflation, travel, etc. One thing I can say is that they seasoned the patty very well! It’s one of the few places I’ve been to where they actually add seasoning. I asked for medium cook but since it was so small they overcooked it and it was well done. The grilled onions didn’t taste right at all to me and I put them to the side. The eggs were pretty good and definitely seemed more like 3 than 2 that the menu says. I asked for scrambled hard and they did that correctly (yes some places don’t). The fruit bowl was nothing spectacular, and just a random mix of fruit. The biscuit and gravy… the gravy tasted off. It was really seasoned, to the point that there was too much seasoning. The gravy tasted a little sour, like it may have started to turn from sitting too long. The only other thing of note was they had an abundance of people working there just standing around but not actually waiting tables. We weren’t approached about our meal until maybe we were 3/4 of the way through and needed another utensil because they only gave us two (there were three of us). I as well ordered coffee and wanted a refill a while ago, but again, no one close to ask, but plenty standing around. I will only leave a review of my food as that is what I ate, but overall, will not be returning here. The 2 stars is because they seasoned well, and got my eggs right. Other than that not worth $17 that I...
Read moreFound this place by accident today on a journey up the I-80. Dine and Dash maybe the wrong name, perhaps it should be come in, eat a good meal, enjoy it, relax, go into a satisfying food coma and then get back on the freeway..... Situated just of the freeway, it's on your right eastbound. Off at the next exit, turn right and a few hundred yards downhill. It's an old building, almost reminiscent of an old saloon. Parking is right outside, but space seems limited to about fifteen vehicles... there are other parking opportunities both sides of the building. The decor is authentic, a lot of aged wood and corrugated iron that evolved as opposed to the more fake designs you see that try to emulate nostalgia. Our table was so clean and polished that my coffee cup spun and moved in a way that would make a skater envious. But the real point is the food. I had a sort of mixed grill, bacon, fried potatoes, mushrooms, eggs and a ham steak. This was superb, but my guest had what was called a "benny', basically two grilled cheese sandwiches topped with cheesy eggs Benedict that was so superlative that I just cannot find the words to do it justice. Even my daughter's hamburger was something that chains could only ever dream of. Service was excellent, coffee fresh and price was reasonable for full service.. you could spend the same in say Denny's, but trust me, it would be the difference between Jello and Belgian chocolate gateux in comparison. You would regret not eating here, I live a couple of towns away, but would make the drive any day. The five stars are...
