This is definitely one of those places that the locals love and if you aren't from around the area you just won't understand why.
The atmosphere is alright. Feels like a big lodge inside. You go in, stand in line to order, and then wait to go pick up your food from a window.
The food is just meh. The couple of times I went I just got a burger because honestly I wasn't willing to try anything else. I don't like tomatoes and mustard and clearly saw the person taking my order write down no tomatoes or mustard. Picked up my order and it had both. When you tell the kitchen staff your order is wrong they look at you like you're the devil incarnate. How dare you waste food like that? Um, sorry, but I didn't make the food wrong to begin with.
The fries are also nothing to write home about and I've definitely had better at other restaurants in town. They do have a decent(ish) beer selection and the happy hour deals on drinks are pretty good.
It's probably a good place to go and have a drink or two and just hang out, but make sure you eat beforehand because you'll be sad you wasted your money on what is (at best) mediocre food.
And no, I'm not a local. I'm a transplant that lived in the area for 2.5 years and really tried to check out all the places my townie friends told me about. This is one I just couldn't understand why it had so much love. Sorry...
Read moreIt used to be so good. I don't know if management changed or something but it was terrible.
I literally used to claim this was the best place to get a burger in town! And I lived in BCS for 25 of my 30 years so I know what's up with burgers there. However, to my dismay, it is nothing like the place it was for over a decade.
How you ask? How can you turn a burger so good you would sell your sister to a place I wouldn't send my worst enemy? I'll tell you.
The meat was so dry it was like a dry leather boot. Like they charbroiled a piece of coal and then roasted it in the oven for the entire fall semester. And I was never too fond of the fries, but at least they were edible, but these fries were so soggy, not even in a greasy way, like wet soggy like they washed them after they were fried. They stuck together in one single blob. Just don't even cut the potato next time.
I hate Burger King and I would rather have eaten there. It is too expensive and too terrible to justify...
Read moreThis is way better than Grub! There is quite a bit of debate in this town about the best burger. If you want a real cheeseburger that is cooked well, with regular burger toppings this is the place to go to! If all you care about is the frivolous fancy toppings and not a decently seasoned cooked burger, go to Grub. The burgers here are a half pound on a perfectly toasted bun topped with cheese if you want it, mustard, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and onions. It comes with french fries but you can pick another side. We also splurged and had the side of friend jalepenos and onions. I highly recommend it!!! We don't eat like this often, maybe once a year. But the next time I want a good burger this is...
