My husband and I moved from Long Beach, California where Mexican food is extremely authentic. Since moving to New Jersey, it has been tremendously difficult for us to find a Mexican restaurant that resembles any authentic Mexican food. We find that many Mexican restaurants in the area are bland or Americanized. Since we discovered La Catrina, we have been IN LOVE! Food is so delicious, representation is amazing, staff is very friendly and courteous. The atmosphere is family friendly and the food is good for kids as well! My 2 and 4 year old love coming here. We love coming here on the weekends and trying their new specials of the day, we have never been disappointed! We had lobster enchiladas and wet burritos as shown in the pictures and we were impressed. Feels good to have found a place that...

I ordered take out , I had Al pastor tacos, carnitas tacos, birrria tacos , chicken tender and fries kids meal, churros and street corn. Everything was small portions . Sauce cups filled only half way, chicken tender platter was $7 and in a small styrofoam square container with only 2 chicken tenders. The street corn was 6.50 and it was a small container barely filled half way. The food flavor was not amazing. I wouldn’t plan on going back as I’ve had better tacos . I’ve like the Al pastor the best. Carnitas was ok too. But the birria tacos were off from what I’ve had before at other places. I did not like any of the sauces the red sauce had no spice at all. And the birria sauce...

Finally, an authentic and reasonably priced Mexican restaurant in Collingswood!

There is no dearth of excellent Mexican, Salvadorean, or other Hispanic/South American cuisine within a 30 minute drive of Collingswood, but this is the first local place that has made me feel that drive is no longer necessary.

Their horchata is authentic and delicious.

It's very difficult to find a place that serves cafe de olla. It's missing the stronger vanilla notes, and doesn't have that sweet molasses/clay pot taste - so I'd rate the cafe de olla a 3/5. Hope it improves.

All the dishes I've had were excellent. The La Catrina steak in particular is perfect.

Been here a half dozen...

We went there for an early dinner before a concert so we were the first table to be seated so it was understandably dead in there. We were quickly seated and given chips with sauces. I was a little disappointed there was no salsa but no big deal. Upon asking for some additional chips we were told that would be an upcharge - really, for chips? Ok. Anyway we got steak tacos and flounder tacos. The steak tacos were a bit dry and skimpy however the flounder tacos were phenomenal. I would definitely go back for those.

Great little gem you might miss if you're not looking for it! Especially recommend the wet burritos (I had the guajillo chicken for my spicy on the milder side preference and my friend had the tinga chicken for his spicy on the wilder side preference) and churros. Also, give the Cafe de Ollo a try. It's a little earthier than 'American Coffee' but it's a nice change from the usual and, I thought, an appropriate ending to the authentic meal we enjoyed.
