I dined at Grand View at the Garden of the Gods Resort today and it was nothing short of a 5-star experienceâexactly what I needed after an incredibly stressful week. Dining solo, I was looking for a place to unwind, and Grand View delivered in every way possible.
The moment I walked in, the ambiance struck meâelegant yet warm, with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the jaw-dropping red rock formations of Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak in the distance. Itâs the kind of view that instantly melts tension away, and I felt myself start to relax even before I sat down.
My server, Peter, was an absolute gem. He greeted me with genuine warmth, clearly picking up on my need for a calm evening, and his attentiveness throughout the meal was spot-on without ever feeling intrusive.
The wedge salad was a crisp, refreshing masterpiece: perfectly chilled iceberg lettuce, smoky bacon, juicy baby heirloom tomatoes, and a generous crumble of gorgonzola, all tied together with a creamy blue cheese dressing that had just the right tang. It was simple yet elevated, the kind of dish that sets the tone for something special to come.
And the ribeye? Pure perfection. Cooked to a flawless medium-well as Iâd requested, it arrived with a beautifully seared crust and a tender, juicy interior that practically melted in my mouth. The herb crust added a subtle, savory depth, and at 16 ounces, it was substantial enough to feel indulgentâexactly the treat I deserved after the week Iâd had. Peter checked in just enough to ensure everything was to my liking, even suggesting a glass of red wine that complemented the steak impeccably.
The service, the food, the viewâit all came together seamlessly. By the time I finished, I felt recharged, like the weight of the week had lifted. Grand View isnât just a restaurant; itâs an experience, and with Peter as my server, it was one Iâll remember fondly. Iâm already looking forward to my next visit. If youâre in Colorado Springs, do yourself a favor and goâespecially after a tough week. You wonât regret it. Five...
Read moreProbably the worst dinner I've had in decades. I travel a lot. I've eaten all over the world. Everything from fine dinning to local dives. I don't mind paying a lot for a dinning experience. Unfortunately, the Grand View Dinning Room is far from a dinning experience. I would argue it is barely edible. Every thing we ordered was a huge disappointment. I started my dinner with their lobster bisque. I'm pretty sure the bisque that was put into my very hot bowl was in fact cold. It seemed like it was warm in pockets, but cold in others. Then they have the nerve to serve it in a huge looking bowl, but the soup is just the tinniest cup at the bottom. There was literally one little piece of lobster in my tinny lukewarm cup. My wife didn't have any lobster in her cup, just broth. But that would be OK, if it tasted like lobster, but sadly it didn't. It tasted like squash soup. I do not think any lobsters were harmed in the making of the soup. My poor wife ordered the scallop appetizer. If you put both of the little scallop pieces they served her, you might actually have one whole scallop. To be honest, for $18, we did expect a little more. And the cauliflower three ways turned out to be nearly flavorless cauliflower two ways and a bunch of crumbs that I think was supposed to be the third way. I ordered the Cornish game hen. The bird was actually done pretty well. But the mushrooms were far from "roasted" and wild rice was under cooked, again lacking in flavor. As was the "Herb Consomme" they served, it lacked any flavor but salt. Sadly our service was not impressive either. In fact, other than the location, there was nothing memorable or impressive about our dinner. There are lots of very good restaurants in Colorado Springs, the Grand View Dinning Room is not one of them. I will certainly not be going back. I would recommend to others to save their money and their appetite for one of C-Springs...
Read moreThe service is inappropriately slow. My husband and I ordered the lobster bisque to start and it took almost 30 minutes for it to come out. We also had ordered a wedge salad to split which took another 20 minutes past getting the soup to arrive and the dressing was wrong so they had to send it back and it took another 15-20 min to get that out. After those, it was a solid hour before we saw our entrees. We had to ask about them a couple times. When it finally came out, my husbands steak was well done when he has asked for medium rare. It was inedible and also he had ordered sautéed mushrooms that never came on it. We asked for the steak to be taken back and just removed from our bill since it simply had just taken too long at this point. The waitress offered to fix the steak and have it sent to our room along with a dessert of our choice free of charge. We accepted. While the steak was delivered promptly to our room and cooked well, the deliverer gave us a bill for the steak and dessert at half off. We said no and that it was supposed to be comped and he left. For the caliber this restaurant advertises to be, the mistakes, lack of management, food delivered wrongly and not cooked as ordered are...
