I eat at Taste of Philly pretty often and the food is consistently good. However, I’m giving this one star because I ordered my normal pepper philly from Door Dash (I’ve been using this app pretty often due to a recent surgery) and am very disappointed because of missing items from my order. I’ve used door dash about three times now from this establishment and it hasnt been a problem until today. I always ask in the special instructions to separate my meat from the bread so that the sandwich doesn’t get soggy. Today, I got my meat without any bread at all- so I decided to call the store directly. I spoke the manager Jason, and he was extremely rude and un-helpful. I explained what happened and his repsonse was “do you want the bread?” Like duh? Isn’t that the entire half of a Philly cheese steak? So I told him yes but asked how long it would be. He stated that since I was close by it shouldn’t take long but that he would need to find a driver to deliver. I told him that if it was going to be more than 30 minutes - that I would prefer a refund. He said that it probably would be longer than 30 mins and that he definitely couldn’t do a refund anyway. So I told him I would come to the store to return my food for a refund. He said “okay.” When I got up to the store he didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience it caused me. Again I had surgery on my stomach a month ago so I’m still in quite a bit of pain but I felt it necessary to call this store out for it’s horrible customer service to a long-time customer. I will not ever go back here and hope you all don’t give this business a penny more of your hard earned money. Jason seemed like a very young inexperienced manager who doesn’t get or understand customer service. This is coming from a 12 year active duty Air Force master sergeant who works in customer service (HR). If I were the store owner I would never want a manager like that being the front-line to my customers, business and money. So Fabian, you might want to mentor your manager so that you don’t lose additional business. But after looking at other poor reviews - you clearly don’t care about customer service. You should smarten up though- word of mouth and reputation...
Read moreDO NOT EAT HERE. My family had food delivered from this location last night. My husband ate an original Philly Cheese steak, I had half a veggie wrap, and my boys shared a ham and cheese sandwich at 6pm. At 9pm my husband was complaining about stomach cramping. 10 pm he started vomiting, and continued to get worse. At midnight he ended up in the ER with tenors, stomach cramping, back pain, a low grade fever, nausea, and vomiting. I called Taste of Philly this morning around 10, and was told by the manager Kat, that the owner said people have bad reactions to food all the time and since they cook their food at the appropriate temperatures, it's not their problem. I asked to be reimbursed for our food and any out of pockets costs for the ER and was told their was nothing they could do, as the owner refuses to help. I think I would have been appeased even if they offered to pay for my husband's food. But absolutely nothing was offered. It was very much a "too bad, so sad, not our problem" attitude. The ER Dr and the Health Department (to whom I reported the incident and our treatment) said that the reaction my husband had was due to bacteria formed from poor food handling and storage and no amount of cooking would have prevented his illness. And as we have eaten here before with no issues, it's not just a bad reaction. I am absolutely appalled by their complet÷ disregard for what happened and non-existent customer service. Thank God my toddler or 4 yr old didn't have any of my husband food. We will never eat here again, and warn others to think twice before eating here. They absolutely do not care if their food...
Read moreMy past orders have been online delivery orders (and not in-store orders) so FYI this review is based on Taste of Philly's online delivery.
The online delivery system is very straight-forward and easy to navigate. I typically order a bunch of food & the sandwiches always have additional/extra items, so my orders can be pretty nuanced. I have yet to receive an incorrect order! The food tastes good. They have delicious cheesesteaks (my go-to is the small The Works Cheesesteak) and also pretty good potato salad.
The customer service is also great, from my experiences. For example, when I ordered a flavor of tea that Taste of Philly didn't currently have, someone from the store called me and asked me what other flavor I'd like (she was also very pleasant!). I feel like this is a rare occurrence; so many times when I've ordered online & something I ordered wasn't available, restaurants either substituted something random without asking me or did not include the item entirely. I appreciate that someone took the time to call me and ask what substitute I wanted.
Also, just a side note on the deliveries -- I really appreciate that the delivery drivers wear masks. Always a good sign when restaurants are cognizant of COVID and enforce the appropriate safety measures!
Overall, I've had good experiences with ordering online from Taste of Philly so I will definitely continue to use the online delivery system and support this...
