I love to support local businesses and provide realistic insights.
The atmosphere is awesome! While being close to a busy intersection, it was nice and quiet. I am able to have a peaceful conversation with the love of my life and not feel like I had to speak over traffic noise. You're settled inside a cute old cabin that is well decorated!
Service, I am going to start with the bad and move towards the good. We ordered some breakfast items that would be heated on the griddle, and the wife got french toast, and I got biscuits and gravy. The guy managing the griddle was nice but seemed to be learning, which is alright. The biggest concern we had was higeine we got there at opening and it looked like he had spent a day working in a field jeans were very dirty with wasn't much of a deal until after the food was delivered and he rubbed his hands on the jeans without gloves on. Food did arrive very hot and tasted good. Except for the French toast seemed like it wasn't egg washed and was dry. The gravy is a thick sausage gravy that has a great front flavor but leaves a sour after taste. Continuing with service, when we first arrived, there was a gentleman who left to go get supplies, and I am assuming the owner. He made some wonderful suggestions for coffee drinks for my wife and I. The Zebra was amazing, and the pumpkin spice was good as well. The lovely lady who worked the register and took the order was very sweet and informative as well. Seems like a family run operation, and it's a good start.
Now to the food we gave it a 2 star based on what we ordered for dine in. Again, it was biscuits and gravy with sausage gravy and French toast. And a side of bacon and sausage. The French toast appeared to be a sour dough bread toasted dry and dressed with powder sugar. It would have been much nicer with the egg wash and vanilla. The amount of syrup was so small that my wife only ate 2 slices of the bread. It's so kind of a letdown on the French toast. The biscuits and sausage gravy the biscuits were awesome. If they weren't made on-site, they found an awesome supplier. The sausage gravy was very thick, not like a typical sausage gravy. The initial flavor is a nice spicy sausage taste that ends with a soury note. I took my leftovers home to take the gravy off and enjoy the biscuits.
We ordered pastries to take home and indulge in later, got a LARGE cinnamon roll, and two peach cheese danishes. This is where Munchy Cottage excels. Let me tell ya later in the afternoon we ate the cheese danishes and we're where floored the pastry dough was flaky and had so many delicious layers I could eat the dough plane. Then you get to the cheese filling, and it brings it to a whole nother level. Then we decided to try out the cinnamon roll and followed the warming directions they told us. Let me start out with this. I am going back to see if we can order a bakers dozen of them. The cinnamon filling is substantial and has some of the best flavors. Then, here comes their pastry dough again, flaky and oh so flavor packed. The icing is super sweet and adds a whole new level of experience to the roll.
In conclusion, are there areas of improvement sure what business doesn't have room to improve? Could our dine in experience be from an off day absolutely. I will say this I was referred to the cottage by some neighbors and friends who know I am a foodie, and they raved about the cottage, so we stopped in and planned on going again. Maybe if "Mama" was in and helped directly, it could have a different outcome in taste. We do absolutely love this spot and the pastries and will be back to try other things as well. And we for sure think there is a long-standing place here in Divide for a local family...
Read moreI usually dont write reviews but you have to try. This is a must if you are in the area. Doesn't look like much so you could drive right by it. It is very small on the inside only seats eight. But has outdoor seating in a cute little garden area with what looks like an authentic covered wagon. Stopped in for coffee and breakfast. Didn't disappoint. Everything made to order from scratch. Huge portions. Husband and grandson each had large order B&G. Came with two huge homemade biscuits that were split and grilled. Covered in sausage gravy with sausage actually in it. We are B&G snobs. Delicious! Hubby couldn't finish. Grandson got it all down. Granddaughter had breakfast quesadilla with sausage. Also had options of ham bacon or chorizo. Again huge stuffed with eggs cheese mushrooms and I dont remember what else. Next was Monte Cristo. Seemed pricey but again huge. Needed both hands to hold half the sandwich. Ham and tons of melty cheese. Served with side of blackberry jam and sweet potato chips. Again could only eat half. Then the pastries. Cookies, cupcakes, Danish, big as your head cinnamon rolls in different flavors. We ordered one but we were all to full so brought back to heat and eat later. Pastries change daily They had beautiful quiched too! Have to go back and get. They have all kinds of different coffees, teas, and Lotus energy drinks. Each made to order with your choice of flavors. Guess its thing but not familar with. Also have ice cream and milk shakes. Special shake of the day was peanut butter, mocha and banana. Grandson inhaled it. Family we met while waiting for food was there for their third time. They stopped on their way home to take cinnamon rolls home as souvenirs. Said ice cream was delicious. One scoop filled whole bowl. I could go on and on. Again it is a small cozy place. The staff is excellent, friendly and are proud of what they do. The young person who makes the speciality coffee made the wrong size coffee. Apologized all over and corrected and added extra chocolate and shot of expresso. It was Dubai chocolate latte. Yummy! Anyhow it is small, friendly place. Everything is delicious. Probably will be busy so be patient and kind. We will be in town a couple more days and I'll definitely go back. PS They do ship. Thank you Maragert and staff. Keep on doing...
Read moreI love this place. Absolutely hands down a welcome addition to divide! Located where the BBQ used to be, this quaint little coffee house/Bakery proves it has a lot to say! Very good food and coffee. In addition to their awesome coffee, their lotus energy drinks are a must try for that quick pick me up!
The only thing you may need to prepare your self for is a lack of seating, but that's ok, they have an small outdoor table as well. I have added munchies (The Munchie Cottage) to the top of my list and integrated it into my weekly routine. Ecstatic we have them here in divide! The service is also top notch and super friendly. Haven't met a single one that I haven't been able to strike up a conversation with.
For a food recommendation, I whole heartedly recommend their yak breakfast burrito, the cinnamon rolls (absolutely generous size), and an coffee, I haven't had one I didn't like!
As our economy continues to eb and flow, I won't be posting prices, but I felt their prices were about right. They are far better than most in quantity, and definitely hold quality to a high regard. This is definitely a premium Bakery and coffee house, and I feel they beat Starbucks in quality, quantity, and price. Add it to your morning routine, just give your self an extra 10 minutes. They can be busy (for...
