Honestly blown away that this place isn't busier than in actually is. Hands down my new favorite "hidden" gem, which is kind of an oxymoron considering it is smack dab in the middle of one of, if not THE most, iconic places in all of Colorado.
The staff was down to earth, friendly, and accommodating. Every box checked for what an excellent server should be. But above all, the staff was genuine! Which as many know is fairly hard to come by in the service industry, so this was certainly a welcome gust of fresh air.
Now lets talk about the food. Some kind of divine instinct must've guided me to Red Rocks on this very day of all days, because according to the staff, they had just released their new menu for the 2022 season.
And then I saw it.
Three simple words, that invoke such great joy in my life.
Pressed. Cuban. Sandwich.
Now, as any Miami native can attest, seeing a Cuban sandwich on a U.S. restaurant menu outside of Florida ALWAYS carries some degree of skepticism, but simultaneous curiosity. "Is it actually a Cuban though?" I will spare you the fluff, and just say that to my extreme delight and surprise, what was placed in front of me could have passed for any Cuban sandwich from a mom and pop sandwich shop in Florida. The bread, pressed and toasted to perfection and cut CORRECTLY into lengthwise diagonals was buttery and flaky. The juiciness from the mojo marinated pork. The tanginess from the pickle and mustard. And the smoothness of the melted Swiss cheese. All swirled around my palate creating for a moment, what felt an almost out of body experience. I wasn't at Red Rocks, Colorado at all. I was on the white sands of Florida with a parchment paper wrapped Cubano in one hand, and a rum runner in the other. (Seriously though if anyone reads this, add rum runners to the menu. Literally my only suggestion.)
If I needed another reason to love Red Rocks and look forward to the first true concert season since the madness of Covid, the Ship Rock Grill at Red Rocks provided one and then some. I will 1000% be back myself, with friends and family, and encourage EVERYONE to try this gem for themselves while its still a...
Read moreRIPOFF-$25 per person deposit required when making reservation is a ripoff. A few weeks before the Laugen Daigle concert, we wanted to make reservations for our group of six. The online reservation system required an advance deposit of $25 per person. Before making the reservation, my stepdaughter called to ask if our bill was less than the deposit, do they refund our credit card. A male answered the call. He said that any unused balance would be credited back to our credit card after the meal. The server brought the bill after we ate and our bill was $38 less than the deposit we paid. She said they could NOT refund our credit card but that we could order more food. She brought us a menu. Next the Asst Manager (she said her name was Kendra) came to our table. We told her about inquiring before making the reservation and told her we were told unused balance would be refunded. She said "I find that hard to believe!". I was in shock that an assistance manager would say that to her customers. I told her that she is saying my stepdaughter was a liar and that she needed to apologize to her. She did apologize but said she could not refund our card for the unused balance. We ordered two pieces of cheesecake and 1 cookie to go to use MOST of the remaining deposit that we had prepaid. After they brought the "to go" bag, we started out of the restaurant. They stopped us and told us that we needed to pay the remaining balance. It has been such a bad experience, we paid another $8 and left. When we got back to the hotel we looked at the bill and opened the bag. They had billed us for and gave us 2 cookies and 2 cheesecake. The cheesecake was correct but we had only ordered 1 cookie. The second cookie that we had not ordered was the reason the bill had exceeded the deposit that we had paid. This was a horrible experience and we will never go there again. The asst manager was very unprofessional and discourteous. We will never eat...
Read moreWe made reservations for dinner here before a concert at Red Rocks. We were seated promptly, although they chose to seat us in full-sun at 6:20 PM in July. Our request to move inside was honored. We ordered the flatbread to share (it was ok, nothing special). Our kids had chicken tenders, fries and Mac-n-cheese. The chicken tenders and fries were good-the Mac-n-cheese was Kraft. The thing that aggravated me was that I ordered a $16 margarita. I wouldn’t normally spend this much on 1 drink but it was a special occasion. I took 1 sip and it slipped out of my hand when setting it down due to the condensation on the aluminum cup it was served in. Our waitress came over it brought 2 towels to clean it up. Over 75% of my drink had spilled on the table and at no time was an offer made to replace it. I understand, my fault, but most places would offer to get another one. It was my first drink of the night and we hadn’t even ordered food yet. I didn’t say anything but my husband did later. Our waitress had asked her “manager” and was told that they would not replace it. The dinner was booked through OpenTable, and that required pre-payment of $25 per person. The restaurant was already paid $100 so when we were going to check out, we hadn’t yet met the total. You can’t use any of that amount for a tip and there is no money given back. So, I got another margarita but I had to pay for it. In all, a disappointing start to a night. It was our second time at Red Rocks. I would have expected better customer service but that seems to be lacking here. Overall, I would not recommend due to customer service and food quality. Will...
