CU Boulder used to have a wok n Roll restaurant in the campus cafeteria along side well known chains, but this was always my go to place between classes since it was not only the most delicious but healthy too! I really didn't understand why it shut down, other than maybe Japanese food is too niche... anyway I kid you not I wanted to try and recreate their Yakitori chicken dish to meal prep since I loved it so much but I got lucky and stumbled on to the fact that they still had a physical restaurant in Ft. Collins! I haven't had Wok n Roll in 20 years so as soon as I found out about it I drove nearly an hour away just to try it again! It was a little sad to see that their current restaurant does not have the same professional appearance that their old restaurants had, so I was worried that the food wasn't going to be as good but I'm happy to say that it was as good as I remember! That yakitori chicken is really good... they marinate and grill the chicken, pair it with veggies, and put it on your choice of rice or noodles. The best part though is pouring on that yakitori sauce. It's spicy and it's subtle but the flavor is amazing. Most people think that most fast food is probably pretty bad for you but there are places like this prove that "fast" doesn't always mean "unhealthy." Here you can get a balanced meal that happens to be served up fast. Why isn't this every...
Read moreHad Wok N Roll cater for our office and not only did they not use Chafing Dishes to maintain safe holding temperatures, food was just slightly over room temperature by the time it was delivered. We've had them cater two other times that I'm aware of, and things have usually been pretty decent, but this time, at least 9 people that I've talked to got violently bad food poisoning and I can't in good conscience recommend ever using them again.
I've spent the last 12 hours violently ill, as has anyone else who had their Teriyaki Shimp/Salmon (because for some reason they thought it made sense to mix the two.... in spite of shellfish allergies being a thing, which I don't personally have, nor does anyone else who's reported their intense food poisoning to me)
Please, honestly, just don't eat here, they clearly don't care about the wellbeing of...
Read moreFood was bad, tasted like it was a frozen dinner warmed in the microwave. The teriyaki rice bowl was maybe a full cup if even. The california rolls had little or no crab and tasted like rice and cucumber, cold and bland. I asked to have the tempura shrimp rolls without the salmon and was told no, that was not possible since it was lunch and would take time to make. Excuse me, do you not make the rolls fresh? Not only was I told no, they had no time to make it without the salmon, the man at the register kept yelling at people to move forward, up to this spot, and seemed irratated with everyone and the other employees. I wanted to turn around and leave, but then I would have had to ask for my money back. Actually once I tasted it,...
