Overall, very good. Worthy of a return trip. Good service, good food (with one exception).
We visited on a Monday night a little after dinner time and business was brisk. We sat on the sidewalk and were pleasantly surprised how quiet it was, with the exception of the occasional loud vehicle. It was nice to be able to talk without a lot of background noise and watch the goings-on on the boulevard. Our server was awesome – fast and friendly.
The ‘Five Alarm’ burger was great; cooked and served as-ordered at the right temperature, with the condiments I asked for and a delicious pretzel bun. Certainly not an important point, but the spice/heat level on this burger didn’t seem that high. For the name, maybe consider spicing it up a bit. Mac salad was good, the cole slaw was decidedly meh, and both were served in very small portions (disposable condiment cups). No one in our party had the kettle chips so maybe that would’ve been a better option. Not sure if the absence of fries is a choice or a constraint of the kitchen equipment but adding fries, maybe even sweet potato fries, would be a nice upgrade. I also had two Upper Hand beers from the respectable beer list and both were served quickly, ice cold and in a nice clean pint glass.
Loaded potato skins were also very good – perfectly cooked and tasty.
Unfortunately, the Reuben one of our party ordered was poorly done. The beef was riddled with far too much fat and gristle – super gross and roughly half inedible. I get that corned beef will have some marbling but, knowing a little about it, I can say that this was well over the line; definitely something that needs to be corrected.
Wish the newest owners/operators the best and look forward to more upgrades and improvements. We’ll...
Read moreWent here for the first time, and even though the service was good, except for one detailed item, I may not be back. Upon arriving we were told to sit anywhere and we did, took a minute to figure out what we wanted and then proceeded to order. We started out with the pretzel and beer cheese and it was really good, I would recommend, but the cheese dip should be a lot warmer instead of a paste. We ordered dinner, which included, chicken parmesan sandwich and a 4 item Calzone. The chicken parmesan was a huge disappointment, lacked in sauce and flavor, the roll it came on was good but I would not recommend this item by any means. The calzone was good could have been cooked more, but I'd be afraid they might burn it, the marinara on the side was COLD, I'm talking right out of the refrigerator cold and to put that with a luke warm calzone was bad. When we got our food the server then mentioned that they were out of an item for our calzone but kept forgetting to tell us the umpteen times she past by us and so only had 3 out of the 4 items on it, didn't even ask if we'd like to getting something beside the bacon we wanted (said they were out of bacon) so does this mean a bacon cheese burger is just a cheese burger and don't tell the customer just serve it without? So after this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant to my friends or family, which is a shame, because we wanted to like it. I hope this review helps someone and...
Read moreWell I have been at Wamplers lake for eons, clear back into the 60's. I witnessed the long term demise of Brooklyn. I love watching how the townspeoples' creativity and hard work bring these small villages back. It seems to have worked for Brooklyn, and I am glad for them! So it was with that interest that I went here for a lunch. End of poetic story. While the place was very nice with an appropriate ambiance, the good comments end there. Service was awful enough (40 minute wait for a simple cheeseburger?), but the server was "awfuller"! The only thing worse was the strange and highly unappetizing thing that finally appeared that I realized was my cheeseburg. It was positively awful looking. I summoned strength from deep (fearing food poisoning), and since I had not read or heard of anyone from Brooklyn dying from food poisoning from this place, I took a bite. Eureka! It was even more awful than the server, service, wait time, appearance and lack of any particular sense of customer satisfaction. As far as I know, it is still sitting there. I paid, left and went to JRs. Quite a refreshing difference so far! BTW...I believe in taking time for reviews. I have never before given a bad, inaccurate or unfair review (and on this one, it would only post if you gave it at least one star. So I did, despite that it was one...
