This is a fantastic restaurant!
They are located south of town in a quiet little area. My mother and I have been regulars since they opened. I cannot say one bad thing about this place therefore they will receive five stars from me. I may be a little heavy-handed on five stars. But, I am very pessimistic on food presentation and general atmosphere of a restaurant.
The wait staff is incredible! Art, Travis, Marty, Adria, Madeline, The entire management staff are great people to talk to and extremely helpful if you do not know exactly what you want to eat. They will have wonderful recommendations.
Food: Everything comes in huge portions. I like to order the Chicken Philly/ no onions with an order of waffle fries. I have tried their wonderful smoked wings, smoked brisket, smoked brisket Philly and numerous other items on their menu and they are always perfect. I have never had an issue with my food in the entire time I've been going to this restaurant. The menu is extremely affordable. I am never one to sway away from my regular order. But, their lunch and dinner specials always sound wonderful.
Atmosphere: The ambience of this restaurant I find to be very enjoyable. Outdoor seating if desired. Bar seating and normal restaurant seating. Numerous televisions for viewing sports, news or whatever may be on. A fantastic bar that you can sit at and eat with a very good selection of local craft beers. The bartenders are wonderful.
I will admit D Rowe's has a special place in my heart. While my dad was sick with terminal cancer nine years ago. This was the go to restaurant because my father just loved their catfish. The owner Dave went out of his way to set up a table for my father who was in a wheelchair at the time to make him as comfortable as possible. The kitchen manager would make my father catfish and fries. Which was not on the menu.
But, that is not why I am giving this place five stars.
The ambience is perfect for either a meal with your family and friends. Or a casual business meeting where you're just having a quick lunch and a beer. The two and three star reviews on here I think are extremely biased. This restaurant has become a staple of Columbia and will be here for many decades to come. I will always...
Read moreWe like to try new restaurants. We were planning to dine elsewhere but confused the directions and ended up here and figured, why not give it a go? We realized we had been here for a club event and the limited menu was ok. We were in line behind several people but everyone was accommodated and seated quickly. We were just ahead of the dinner rush (on purpose) since we like to take our time at new places. An appetizer is a must for us and potato skins sounded good. I know, a boring choice...they were the best we've ever had. Crispy, lightly salted skin. Tender potato with just the right amount of cheese and real, crunchy bacon. None of that tugging back and forth to bite through a tough skin. We both ordered burgers (yes...another boring selection). Our thing is to compare restaurants on similar items. It did not disappoint. I insist on medium rare and they nailed it. I usually take half my burgers home but couldn't put this one down. By now we're watching what's being delivered to tables around us so we can prepare for our next visit. It all looked amazing. You eat with your eyes first and the presentations were pleasing. Its a comfortable, casual place. The wait staff are pleasant, polite and attentive. As most places are, as it became busy, they were covering a lot of tables so the service began to slow down. Only because they now had a lot of guests. They remained very helpful. Definitely a great place to stumble on for small or larger groups (might call ahead for that). When we left, the dinner rush was going strong so maybe go a bit earlier to get the best experience. We'll...
Read moreUsed to be good people working there. Went straight down hill. I've been here 8 years and I really enjoyed walking my dog up there and seeing familiar faces and my dog love the attention. I go up there this time and they throw me out because I didn't know what size drink I was paying for that someone else was getting. She asked me what size and I said that size as I was pointing my friends direction. She asked me again and I said the same size everybody gets. She could see very well what my friend was holding, and did look. She asked me again what size is it. I then asked her, you work here and don't know the sizes? That did it. I saw that seen the cup in my friends hand. I'm thinking the only thing I can think so I asked her. Its like someone asking you what color shirt you have on. Your probably going to wonder if they are colorblind. You wouldn't say anything but with this being her job to know these things I had to ask her. She no I do not know the sizes and you can leave. I did cuss her. You know your already leaving and here comes another employee that just has to jump on the band wagon as I am inches from the door saying you need to leave well I had to repeat my choice words I had for the other one. Your being denied for a workers inadequacy and here comes her buddy that new heard a word feeling the need to attack you as your leaving. That's the world we live in. Easier to blame another. Blaming is one thing but making someone else pay a price for what you is just...
