6/14/25 We took a trip from Atlanta to see friends in SC and decided to take the drive to Lake Lure and Grey Hawk, as we enjoyed our first visit over a year ago. We got a coffee at the coffee shop and just wanted a light appetizer before heading home. We ordered the Burrata salad and a specialty Iced Tea. The food was great, just like the last time we came here. But we were very disappointed with the service. We heard at least 3 times that "all the tables came at once". I looked around and counted a total of 7 tables. Our salad came with minor delays. I waited for my drink (non-alcoholic) and it was delivered well after we were eating our salad. We had to wave down our waiter for the check and he again stated "we had everyone come at once" and he'll get our check as soon as he can. There were 2 other servers/runners who were hustling! Unfortunately, our waiter only had one gear and it was slow. ********* My wife and I stumbled across this beautiful little eatery on our drive from Greenville, SC to Lake Lure, NC. We dined al fresco at a table next to the water fountain with beautiful guitar music serenading us through our meal. The food was exceptional with mouth watering flavors. Try the artisan drinks, including non-alcoholic options like the cucumber lemonade or the watermelon iced tea. Both had great flavor and were not overpowering with sugar! They sell wine by the bottle to take home, and they were setting up for some live music this evening. Beautiful garden setting with the most friendly staff. We pinned this place on Google maps for a certain return!!

The outdoor seating is lovely and cool, especially given all of the natural shade. However, when we went, there were a few issues with the food. The food menu was extremely limited, which I'm posting here for transparency. The full menu noted on Google may not be available when you visit, so do be mindful of this. The staff, who were lovely and clearly trying to do a lot under the circumstances, appeared to be stretched thin. We went for an early dinner, and didn't have the option of the beautiful large charcuterie board or other mains, unfortunately. We also had issues with the spice level of a few dishes, which wasn't expected. I felt like the pasta salad was tasty, but my daughter couldn't get past a bite as it was overseasoned for her palette. The lasagna also had an unexpected kick. Our server made every effort to offer a replacement within what was on the menu, but there just weren't enough options for it to be worth it. The drink menu was extensive, so I'd recommend visiting for a beverage and a snack at most. We did try to call ahead for a reservation, which they don't take here given the large amount of outdoor seating, but their short staffing meant that no one could pick up or give us a fair warning about the shortened menu ahead of time.

This is going to be a long one..so where do I begin.. My wife found it accidentally online, don't know how but wow, what a find. Loved the outdoor space with a fountain and fish / koi pond among elephant ear plants and other well placed plantings. Everything from the menus, plates, napkins were just perfectly planned (my wife, an artist truly apprwciated the touch). The cocktail menu was exceptional..bartender did an excellent job. Wine list was extensive. Food was....incredible...quality and well done and presentation was artistic. I spent 20 years in Manhattan and the benefit of five star restaurants and Grey Hawk satisfied my yearning for quality food. Staff was attentive but not overbearing, personable and made the experience relaxing. Live music was perfect and the setup / table spacing afforded privacy and intimacy and enjoyed seeing families and well behaved pets. Just a really delightful experience this close to home. Hard to find a place of this caliber without having to go to asheville or Greeneville. Well done.. we'll be back...again and again.

My visit to Grey Hawk Bar and Grill was, regrettably, a major disappointment. The place looked stunning from the outside, and I was initially excited based on the appealing online menu. However, there was no mention online that reservations were recommended, which caught us off guard. When we arrived, we were bluntly turned away and told they had stopped serving for the day due to what seemed like poor planning in managing food supplies over a busy holiday weekend. No clear explanation was offered, which only added to the frustration. To make matters worse, the staff’s attitude was far from welcoming—two employees were outright rude while dismissing us, showing a complete lack of customer service. I appreciate that the restaurant apparently took the time to do their due diligence and comb through my other Google reviews, cherry-picking the one other spot in the area that didn’t earn five stars from me. However, this doesn’t excuse their shortcomings. My reviews in the area are overwhelmingly positive, with nearly every other establishment earning five stars, so my expectations were reasonable. A quick glance at other reviews for Grey Hawk shows this experience isn’t unique, as many customers have echoed similar frustrations. I strongly recommend waiting at least a year before visiting, as the restaurant seems unprepared to handle visitors effectively. This feedback is meant to be constructive, not to offend, but to encourage improvements that could help Grey Hawk grow. I wish them luck in addressing these issues and turning things around...

I want to start by saying the restaurant is beautiful and we loved the seating outside. However, the service here was insane and the rules very strict. One of our party wanted to order her entree with no side salad. The kitchen requires you pay a $2 fee to remove the salad. TWO DOLLARS TO NOT ADD FOOD TO YOUR PLATE. They don’t offer any modifications of the dishes like most restaurants on earth do. Yes I know, revenue. Okay whatever. Wrong drinks were offered to our table multiple times. I ordered an iced chai chick, did not get the right drink but they said I did. I really wanted to try that blueberry whip, George! We had five people in our party. We needed to split the bill 3 ways. Two things were swapped on the bills and they offered to fix it (we did not ask them to fix it knowing it would be annoying) which was very nice of them. I know it’s annoying to even split the bill. But it took 20 minutes of confusion to fix it. It was very frustrating. Everytime the waitress came back to the table it felt like she was being rude. It felt like everyone who worked there was upset with us. I would not go back and it was not worth the trouble. I read the other not so great reviews and can’t wait to see what sarcastic response the owner leaves for me. I will enjoy reading it. (Wasn’t even going to leave a review until I saw all of your rude responses to...
