The Hatchling Coffee House by Grey Hawk — Restaurant in Columbus

Stopped by for coffee on Friday 11/15/24. We got a little confused by the conflicting hours listed on Google and their website and we showed up hoping for the best. Unfortunately, they were closed but there was one guy there who was so kind and offered to make us something anyways when he could have easily stated that they were closed and turned us away. I ordered an iced caramel latte and it was incredible!! Wonderful coffee, very cute little place, and incredible customer service. We are so glad we stopped by and appreciate the accommodation! To anyone passing through or visiting Lake Lure, I can’t recommend this place enough! Though I will say, the hours on Google are the correct hours. Maybe don’t rudely show up when they’re closed...

I visit Lake Lure once a year and have been following this coffee shop on social media since they opened and couldn’t wait to get back and visit! This is a gem of a spot. I visited Christmas Eve-Eve, which can be hit or miss on the busy side and it was so nice to see everyone being so patient with one individual working. I forgot her name, but she was so sweet and chatty (which I am a yapper so I always love, haha). I got a seasonal latte and muffin. Locally roasted coffee! My wife and I like to sneak off to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock for a day date while the kids are in school. The Hatching is the only spot in the area with coffee worth paying for in my opinion, plus the staff is super friendly and a joy to be around. The indoor seating area is clean and inviting and the outdoor area is simply gorgeous with lots of room to walk around and beautiful landscaping.
