How do i rate 6 stars?! I travel a lot for work. One of my favorite parts is trying new BBQ joints. 95% of the time they're good, when i follow online ratings. Good. Not great. Occasionally, they're very very VERY good. This will fall in that category. I went in shortly before closing (sorry) and they still served me happily! They were out of what I wanted, so I asked for recommendations. I walked out with rib tips, a Philly cheese steak, waffle fries and potato salad. Will start with potato salad. I don't even like potato salad. But the guy recommended it, so I gave it a shot. SO GOOD! I probably ate it to fast, lol. If you eat something you don't like and it still tastes good, they're doing it right !
The waffle fries were perfect. Full of flavor, not too soft, not to hard, just right. Good enough to eat without condiments!
The Philly cheese steak was recommended. Not exactly what i wanted from a BBQ joint, but this guy was so nice and happy to serve, I had to take him up on it! The bread is soft, just the right amount of soggy from meat huices without falling apart. Meat is flavorful and well season. Definitely recommend. I'll def have it again!
Now... the rib tips. Holy sh!#. They were FANTASTIC. The flavor was so huge, I didn't even want to eat them because then they'd be gone! The smoke flavor though, everywhere generally under or over smokes BBQ. I like a good smoke. This was so smoky, but didn't cover the flavor of the meat at all! A hard feat. Now, the tale tale sign of truly perfectly done BBQ... is it so good you can eat it without sauce? Totally! Sauce would cover up just how good they were!
I can't recommend this place enough! I can't wait to try their pulled pork! I've eaten at a lot of places and this is one of the few that stands out! So glad I stopped in! Try it, you won't be sorry!
I wish they had brisket...
Read moreCame into this lovely part of Mississippi to go thrifting ending up meeting a new found love for MoJam’s I read they were the best in town I ended up calling and they happen to be closed for another 45 min due to a big catering first, I ended up staying in the area longer just to try this food. As a NY girl born and raised THIS BBQ has nothing on NY Bbq food. First this is a family owned business so it’s made with a different type of love and I had the pleasure of meeting the son JJ who is amazing btw when I finally arrived back with all the southern hospitality he suggested the chicken and pulled pork because what would I look like just trying one meat lol. I had potato salad Mac & cheese corn bread and collard greens. My pulled pork and potato salad came out first oh my lord TO DIE FOR they were made into little sliders. The most delicious juiciest pulled pork you can imagine and the home made bbq sauce ON POINT. The potato salad was giving me life as I was eating this pulled pork it was the right bit of everything for me. The foood was so delicious I forgot to order a drink, JJ offered to bring me some homemade sweet tea it was just right to get it down, I then got my plate of bbq chicken wings with collard greens and Mac and cheese. MOJAM’s owes me NOTHING I will be flying back in a few weeks with my family & will bring them to this restaurant. I receive nothing short of a welcome and grace from the time I arrived vs the time I left. I also purchased some sides to bring home because I couldn’t help myself. If your ever in Columbus MS visit theeee best BBQ spot you will feel like your at home with your aunty and uncle cooking with that love. Thank you for...

While camping near Columbus, MS, we went into town one day and had lunch at this local favorite. We arrived just before noon, and stepped inside to place our order. Orders are taken at the counter. While they have a printed menu, they do have a chalk board with the daily favorites and specials. Our orders were taken by a friendly young man and we found a nearby booth to await our meal. My wife ordered the daily fried chicken special, four crispy home-style fried pieces of tasty chicken, including two sides - mac-n-cheese and fried okra - along with some homemade cornbread. I had the fried catfish with fried okra and cooked cabbage, served with a homemade roll. Shortly after we were seated, the young man came out to offer an apology. They only had one piece of catfish left, but he let me choose another meat to add to the order. I chose the bbq ribs. All items were brought out piping hot, fresh and delicious. The serving size was quite large. Overall, everything was excellent, including the friendly and helpful service. While there was just one other person in the small restaurant when we arrived, it quickly filled up with locals. Don’t miss this place if you are in the area. Very good,...
