MontAsia is a great little restaurant in Fishtail, MT. We arrived in late afternoon before the dinner crowd. They have a great beer list and interesting mixed drinks but we abstained. We started with an appetizer of Rojak which is a refreshing fruit salad with arugula, mango, green papaya and jicama. For our main course we had whiskey beef noodles and a yak smash burger. The noodle dish had great flavor and this was the best yak I've ever tasted! Ok, it was the first yak but really delicious and not too expensive. The yak was raised in Anaconda, Montana so that is a win for local supply. Their french fries were suspiciously delicious. Even though we filled a go box, we couldn't refuse dessert. The cheesecake with raspberry sauce was great. And the key lime tart was just as wonderful. The service was attentive but not intrusive, so ... perfect. We'll be back!

All the food we had was delicious! From the coconut shrimp with homemade bang bang sauce to a local Montana sirloin steak that was flavorful, juicy and tender (no steak sauce needed - their steak sauce is homemade, it's tasty nothing like A1 or 57). The salad was different but good. Had "normal" house salad (homemade ranch) with a little kale and carrot salad đŸ€€ on the side along with bean sprouts and peruvian peppers. When trying to decide what to have Yokie (owner) was very helpful and gave the best advice on what to have! All staff was very friendly and made it feel like a small town restaurant/bar I'd have back at home, which is exactly what I was looking for while visiting Montana. Almost forgot! The beer selection 👌 Must try the local craft beers. You will not be disappointed in the food or drinks.

We only stayed across the street one night, but two random people - locals - recommended this place, unsolicited. Both said, "It's our favorite and we eat there all the time." I believe it could quickly become our favorite also. Kids had the pot-stickers, I had the chicken and rice, wife had some vegetarian dish, and we all loved our meals. Food was fast, and delivery was offered to us (we were at the Alpine, just across the street, so I declined delivery and just waited) and the meals were finished very quickly, about 10-15 minutes! I would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys Asian food, or just any food! They had a few outside seats, but looked like it was mostly take-out.

This place is the real deal for good food. Color me skeptical when I was going through Cooke City and I see a sign advertising great Asian food in the middle of nowhere. I’m sure it was the best in town but that doesn’t mean much as far as good Asian food and rural Montana.

But I was hungry so I decided to give it a bite and I was impressed. The food really was good Asian homestyle cooking (not fancy stuff, balanced flavors, not greasy). I’ve spent time in Asia and for the most part I shun Chinese food in the US because I know what the real stuff should be like.

The menu was a bit more Malaysian in style but “Asian” captures it accurately. It’s a take out window though there are a few tables outside as well as wifi on premise. They advertise a variety of non-alcoholic drinks but we didn’t have any.

After a week in the Tetons and Yellowstone eating camp food and the occasional overpriced meal I can honestly say this was the best food we had in the area. It was also more reasonably priced than the park food. I got the feeling if this place was in a trendy city it would be a food truck.

So if your in town and looking for a break from pizza, burgers, sandwiches and sausage give this place a try. If your tired of park food use this as an excuse to tour the Lamar valley and keep going for a bite....

tldr: strongly advise calling and asking if it you are allowed to eat here without a reservation. It is a long way to the nearest alternative when they refuse to seat you. I would give zero stars if possible.

We (party of 2) went here one Sunday in mid-September. It was around 6:30 pm, ~90 minutes before close. There were

We ate here last night, unfortunately due to eating here my wife ended up in the hospital. She fell completely unconscious for about a minute two different times. We thought she was dying, it was the worst experience of my life! She ate the chicken Alfredo, it was good however the chicken was “off”. When we went to the hospital we made sure not to tell them anything about what she had for dinner, as we did not want to self diagnose. But the questions kept coming, and everything led to food poisoning. I just called and asked if the person that answered the phone was the owner and he said, “ would it matter?” Not very good customer service with me. (My service was bad so we got disconnected.) So now i’m sure I have around a $3000-$5000 medical bill, and ruined trip to Yellowstone. To the owner: I would love to hear from you regarding this. Great food... it just...
