Visited our neighborhood pub for the first time. This review is very narrow.
Big parking lot shared in this minimal strip center. PPG sits on the end, affording them a space for a patio. Unfortunately the view of the parked and passing cars is the view that accompanies it. We'll come back during warmer weather to give it a fair evaluation. Right now it's the retreat for smokers. I did not notice a curb ramp for wheelchairs, nor do I think it would fit comfortably through the one single unlocked front door. Maybe that was to limit the cold air blowing in. The audio sound welcomes you first before you walk inside.
An avalanche of noise assaults you as you enter. It was a Blue Jackets playoff game, but other reviewers have mentioned this as well. Visual stimulation as TV's flash from everywhere. The other vertical spaces are filled in with standard pub signage. Every seat is a barstool with a seat back. They either line the large bar, or plethora of high tops. I believe this reiterates that it is not welcoming inside for handicapped that can't climb up to a barstool. I found 2 regular size tables in the front right. Also the patio tables. I did not wander into the bathroom, but I imagine they are up to code.
Our server was super friendly and helpful. She met us at our dirty table with a cleaning towel, menus(see pics) and silverware service. A quick rundown of the drink and wing special. She returned with large ice waters and a frosty pilsner that still had most of the beer head on it. Not sitting at the service bar wilting. A couple questions answered and recommendations made, our order was in.... and out in a very timely manner.
My wife raved over her Cuban sandwich. I tasted the pork, and found it tender with great flavor. My wings(see pic) were different in sizes. Huge, big, average, and small. All respectable. No breading on the wings. Fried crispy without drying them out. With a Sunday special on wings in play, I ordered 5 at a time. (See pic)Ragin' Cajun was by far the standout for taste, flavor and heat balance. Celery and dressing are free with regular menu wings, but EXTRA for wing special.
This review is narrow because there is so much more to explore. Patio, cocktails, bathroom, bar seating, Buckeye...
Read moreWorst establishment I've ever taken anyone to in my life. If you like grundge, dirt, funk, and probably all of the above in your food, by all means this is the spot for you.
Came in on Friday around 5pm. Parking was tough, and on the trek to the front door dead plants peppered the outdoor seating area which was sign number one to turn around now. But, still we pushed forward to the front door which was disgusting and dirty, and next to it had a FILTHY boot cleaner (for all the construction workers that obviously go there daily for lunch and dinner and Friday drinks), which should have been my second sign to turn around. Still we pushed on. The place was crowded but we found a table near the back, a wobbly, 15 year old table that was probably stuck to the floor from the grime and dirt on the floor.
That was the last sign I needed to exit stage right. If you're a fan of the show restaurant possible and have seen some of the absolute WRECKS he has flipped, imagine one of those places and then add smelly construction workers to the front entrance to drive home the pungent fragrance permeating the entire establishment and you have Pastimes, whose name says exactly where is should have been left, in the "past time."
Just don't. And...
Read moreMixed experience. I am only posting so folks considering Wednesday night bingo know what to expect. You'll need to arrive by or before 6:15pm to grab a table for the 7pm start. It clears out after that a bit but the 1st game will have a larger pot. Service was good considering the crowd. Food.... well, it was frankly awful. I actually don't think I can ever order food from this place again it was so bad. Others In my group, their meals ranged from "not bad" to "ok", nothing as bad as what I experienced. I would have sent it back had it not been so busy, which for me takes a lot.
The bingo caller has some regulars. Let's just say he is an acquired taste, and an apparent heavy drinker, as in expect some interesting comments, constantly drinking, mistakes, slurred words, etc. Us and other tables being new asked if his antics were the norm, to which the regulars somewhat surprisingly told us, "this is nothing".
Overall it was fun with reasonable drinks, good service, and great to have a bingo option. I will probably give it another shot, but I just don't think I can order...
