While camping across the border in GA, we looked up nearby restaurants. This place came up for Q, so we gave it a try. No regrets!
Is it bad we tried the Buttermilk Pie first? It tasted like the custard you get in an Eclaire pastry. Sooo good! So definitely get it for dessert!
I've been looking for BBQ that isn't dry. Found it at this small but interesting restaurant. Joe is the owner and was the only person working the day we stopped. Like every restaurant, he is short of help and doing it all himself, so please be patient or call ahead and order.
Loved the chipped BBQ and ribs. The platter came with coleslaw (simple with mayo, green peppers and onions.) It helped break up the acidity of the bbq sauce. He was out of beans so offered the Brunswick stew, which I took him up on.
The Stryker Dog - weiners, chili, BBQ, Q-onions, Q-slaw, pickles, crackers, and bbq sauce. What's not to like?

The brisket was dry and forgettable. The baked beans were passable at best, and the portion size was just insulting for the price. This was supposed to be a barbecue plate, not a snack.
Now, to be fair the service was very nice, and the staff were polite. But good service can’t save terrible food portions at ridiculous prices. You shouldn’t have to pay premium restaurant prices for something that tastes this basic and uninspired.

I loved coming here when I was stationed at Fort Benning and have been craving it for years. BBQ House is the definition of old school: no frills, no hype—just perfectly smoked meat, tangy sauce, and tradition on a plate. Every order comes with classic white bread and pickle slices, just the way it should. And don’t even get me started on the sweet tea—cold, strong, and just sweet enough to make it the perfect Southern pairing. This place may look simple from the outside, but inside is BBQ heaven. A must-visit if you’re anywhere...
