So I will start off by saying that the Prime Rib is excellent. So is their homemade Ranch dressing and the Hot Links. The kids meal burger was simple and easy for a 7 yr old to eat. Service was great and our server was always checking on us. She was a Rockstar and super nice! All staff was very friendly and welcoming as well. It's a cozy little restaurant and pricing was in par with the dish. They seemed to be out of things that are shown on the menu as they had no regular cheese balls, no baked potatoes ready, and no pie. I think they might just be struggling a bit due to the current economy and had to cut back some. I understand that and don't hold them at fault. Now, I truly hate saying negative things and I just hope the following gets taken in more a suggestive manner. I've competed in professional BBQ for a decade across the Midwest and have cooked and sampled way more BBQ then I ever thought possible.... My girlfriend ordered the BBQ/Smoked Sampler Platter. We chose five items (Ribs, Hot Links, Brisket, Ham, and Chicken Breast). So there is no lack of smokiness flavor which is a positive. As mentioned previously, the Hot Links are excellent. The ham was pretty good as well. The not so great was the rest. Chicken was very dry and unseasoned, brisket was shaved way to thin and lacked moisture and seasoning, and the ribs had really no flavor either. The BBQ sauce was very bland and really didn't do much for anything but adding some moisture to the plate. Chicken breast is extremely difficult to smoke in mass already just being that the white meat can dry in an instant. I think if they used dark meat it would definitely have been more moist and tender. Maybe add some different BBQ rubs in the mix as well. Maybe its getting hidden by the smoke taste but it was lacking on pretty much everything we tried. Maybe it was an off night? I won't know until maybe giving it a second try. It was a 35 min drive for us so it would be down the road sometime before...
Read moreNever been in this area but made a trip to Miami OK today & found this Cafe in an adjoining town called Commerce, OK. Just the small town atmosphere I was looking for. The service was excellent! I got the grilled chicken melt with swiss cheese, bacon, tomato, lettuce, mayo, on toasted wheat berry bread. It was delicious!! Real chicken breast (not a frozen pattie), done to perfection!! Wish I had got the waitresses name. She helped me by putting an alternate route on my Maps for me so I didn't have to take interstate back home. So friendly, offered me an additional soft drink to take with me for trip back home. Engaged in real conversation even though she was also attending to other customer's needs. Highly recommend Lil' Cafe if you are ever in this area!! Great home cooking with very affordable prices and a 4 page...
Read moreCute little roadside diner, much more than meets the eye! Upon entering, the wonderful aroma of barbecue gets your mouth watering. Their slogan, "we may be lil' but we can feed the biggest appetite!" is absolutely true. The chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans were near perfect. My daughter got the chicken chef salad, and it was huge! The decor is dotted with Rte 66 memorabilia and other Americana items. Servers were friendly and the price is very reasonable for the portions you get. Definitely a stop for Route 66 travelers...
