The Village Cornerstone is a nice little locals’ restaurant. I was in town for a race, so I thought I would try it out since it’s right down the street from the racetrack. Felt like I was walking in to Cheers it seemed everyone knew everyone in there. With the waitresses even bringing orders out to people as they walked in since they already knew what they wanted. The food was OK. The coffee was horrible. The waitress had asked me if I wanted a water with my coffee I had said no, wish I had gotten it to wash the taste of that brown water out of my mouth. It sure looks like the locals loved it, but I won’t be back. PS. They do not accept AMEX

The conversation of eggs; 1. Don't usually eat them. 2. Asked the Amish last week about duck eggs but they didn't have any. 3. Had a conversation with a fella yesterday about meat and eggs. 4. Woke up this morning craving what....eggs. 5. Drove here for a veg omelet. Just light and fluffy goodness. Veges were that wonderful crisp tender state of being. The home fries; you know how you boil an Idaho potatoe and then cut it up into irregular cubes and then fry them and flip them and they kinda sorta turn out like a potato pancake..... oh yeah.

We stopped here Friday on our way home from Lodi and were very impressed! The fried fish and popcorn shrimp were both lightly seasoned and fried to perfection. The fresh fries were great too and got stolen by the kids. We got there right at noon, so it was crowded. One waitress was taking care of everything including bussing tables and taking payments. She was a superstar! Despite her being super busy, we still got everything we needed and she was very friendly. We would definitely go again if we get back up that way.

Review updated to include my note to the business, scroll to the end to read.

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT go here. The server was good, and she should be working at a real restraunt that serves real food.

Ordered a sirloin steak, and I was given a microwaved burger! My baked potato was microwaved too.

The fries were cold and soggy, and the mashed potatoes had some burnt taters in the muddle of it.

As we were sitting there, I noticed the microwave for the food was in CONSTANT use.

One of the kids ordered mini corn dogs, took one bite and said, "ewww what kind of dog is this?!" My husband told him it was chihuahua 😅😅

About the only somewhat decent thing was the chicken tenders that one of the kid's ordered.

The bathrooms had a putred stench to it.

I RARELY give a negative commented review but this one took the cake!

By the way, I did inform our server, and she did try to make it right, but the damage had been done. Maybe you, as the owner, are probably already aware of the business practices there and should take this review as the sort of criticism to make things better before another negative review comes your way. I am not one to put down businesses, more so I would want to be made aware, as a customer before going somewhere and spending my hard earned money. How does one substitute steak for a microwaved...

A three hour experience today. Over TWO HOURS to get my food. No, the restaurant was not packed, not enough half full. I noticed that phone in orders were taken and sent out while I sat there and sat there and sat there. CUSTOMERS IN THE SEATS SHOULD HAVE PRIORITY OVER PHONE ORDERS. The kitchen help was SLOW. The only server there was SLOW. We didn't even receive an acceptable discount for being so patient while our order and service were forgotten. In short, this was a DISASTER. No excuses, Cornerstone!

So, somehow Cornerstone staff thinks the above debacle was my fault? Unbelievable! Total failures on the part of Cornerstone equal the customer is wrong? What part of THREE hours don't you understand? What part of TOTAL SERVICE FAILURE don't you understand? What part of "Customers in the seats should get their orders BEFORE call in orders" don't you understand? I am NOT a liar, the restaurant was no where near capacity. Again, NO EXCUSES VILLAGE...
