I've been going here about 1-5 times a month for the last year. Saturday morning I went there for breakfast with my 3 year old daughter about 20 minutes before they switched the buffet from breakfast to lunch. They switched the salad bar from breakfast pastries and such over to lunch salad bar... I went up there with my 3 year old to get her desert and saw that they had changed it over. I asked her if she wanted pudding anyway.. The woman stocking the line rudely interrupted before my daughter could answer and said it was a different buffet. I politely informed her that I had already paid full child breakfast buffet price for a little girl that only ate 2 pancakes.... She then reintegrated that it was a different buffet... My response was that if she was going to be a di** about it, we wouldn't be back.... fast forward about 10 minutes to when I went to pay... I politely asked the hostess if a manager was on duty and she said there was not... I complained about the previously mentioned woman to her and the woman then came over... I tried to offer a piece of customer service advice to her and she interrupted me again..at which point, I admit, I got a bit un-necessarily belligerent..and the hostess backed her without ever hearing my side of the story.. I was told "that's how we are trained"... Meanwhile, my credit card payment was still processing and I told the original woman to have some hospitality...she made a snide little laugh and said I should..at which point I informed her I was the customer.... and she said "it's just pudding, whats the big deal".....At this point, I informed her there was a reason she made $8/hour and she responded that she was going to call the cops..and I asked why?..Her response was "for harassment".... Well, believe it or not, its not harassment to state your opinion as you are paying for your meal.....I was then told by the hostess not to come back..
I admit I handled my complaint of the situation wrong with my demeanor, but my 3 year old does not have a voice of her own, and it really set me off when she was rudely interrupted.
Fact of the matter is, this confrontation should have never happened. When you run a restaurant based on hospitality and you have a customer paying full price for breakfast buffet, if/when that buffet changes over, don't say anything if they want to a spoon full of pudding for their 3 year old.... I would have understood them saying something if I made a big heaping salad, but we were stonewalled before my kid even had the opportunity to decide if she wanted a little pudding for dessert. I would have even paid extra for it, had the woman been more tactful with her announcement.
Because prior to this incident, I had never had an issue and loved this place, I'll give it a couple months and return with the opportunity for them to make it right with what I thought was their normal hospitable atmosphere. I'd like to think this was a fluke. If I am let to eat with my daughter unbothered (as usual) on my next visit, I will revise this review from 1 to 5 stars... We've never had a problem before this, but this was absolutely...
Read moreWe dined at the Dixie Family Restaurant recently when my wife and I went down to Missouri to pick up a new puppy we just bought. we stopped on the way down to Missouri and I had the Philly Cheese-steak sandwich meal and it was enormous and tasted excellent. On the way back we curbed our appetite until we got to the Dixie restaurant once again. This time I had the deep fried walleye dinner and there were 3 big walleye filets on my dish. it was more than I could finish and they were delicious. I also ordered the deep fried onion rings with their homemade Ranch dressing. I have to tell you the onion rings were homage too, but the Ranch dressing was the best I have ever tasted in my whole life. There is only one downside to eating at the Dixie Family Restaurant, it's a little to far away to dine there on a weekly basis We live outside of Willmington, but if the Dixie Restaurant was closer we probably would be eating there 3 or4 times a week. we can't cook such a delicious meal for the price they charge ! So if you are traveling down rt55, make sure you stop at the Dixie Family Restaurant and really enjoy a...

I cannot believe I have not left a review for this truck stop! Speaking about the truck stop as a travel center stop in for truckers, this place is pretty decent! The pavement outside for the truckers could be a lot better as the payment is full of potholes but resurfacing cost a lot and could possibly push the cost of the goods inside the store even higher! Now let's talk about this Cafe inside of the store, it is absolutely delicious and to die for! The food 9.9 times out of 10 is going to be the most delicious food you ever eaten on Thursday February the 20th at 6:00 hour, this was the worst buffet food is eaten here, but this is one time out of 100... arguably, the main cook was absent) and you will wish that they were at every truck stop in America! The price is decent, the food is clean, and the workers are clean and nice....
