Southern Shells — Restaurant in Contiguous United States

Stopped by for lunch and and was not disappointed, somewhat. We had the 1/2 lb shrimp and a po-boy. The shrimp were good as were the potatoes and corn. We had the shrimp medium heat with garlic butter and it was great. Would definitely come back for more but would recommend ordering 1 lb and splitting it instead of (2) 1/2 lb combos as it is a much better deal. I would have liked to have seen refillable drinks too instead of bottled, if nothing else at least sweet tea, bottled tea is not acceptable in the South, just saying. All that aside I would have still rated Southern Shells a 5, as the service was fine, except for one problem.....the po boy really isn't a po boy. It's a shrimp loaf. I, being from The Big Easy, expect French bread on a po boy, no exceptions. The food was good, the price good but I didn't get a po boy. We ordered two crab claw combos and a shrimp combo. I ate a crab claw combo. The flavor of the crab claws was delicious. However, when I reached the bottom and was eating the bottom layer of crab claws, they were incredibly salty and almost inedible. The same goes for the corn and potatoes. The seasoning was tasty, but they were sitting in the same liquid as the crab claws and were incredibly salty. That’s the reason why I removed the first star. I removed the second star because no one in the establishment was wearing a mask despite the mask mandate that is in effect. I went for lunch. The restaurant was clean and attractive. The girl at the register was polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. I just told her I wanted some fried fish, some corn on the cob, and some red potatoes. I got the choice of regular or garlic butter which was nice because garlic butter is delicious. I also got the choice of seasoning on the corn and potatoes, and chose cajun; this was also nice. I was not worried a bit about the cost but was well pleased when it came out to $11 and some change.
