I would put zero star if I can. I went there for lunch buffet and the food was awful. The waitress would come with some Chinese food and ask you if you would like to try some. First I was impressed by their work until I dig in and ate it. The food was extremely salty. I'm Asian and I know a lot about food. I told the two waitress about the food being too salty. All they say was sorry. I think they probably hired a new cook. If you're a real chef your food wouldn't being this salty. I even told the waitress that they should really tasted the food before serving to customers. I couldn't eat it no more. I was so angry and upset. I feel more bad for my parents. Especially my mom. She's also diabete and she really can't eat salty food. I quickly ask for my bill and went to pay for the food. The front desk lady ask me how was the food? I told her right away that it was horrible. I explained to her that they bring in the same dish over and over. The food tasted nothing but salt. The eggrolls is also horrible. The eggrolls have no meat but cabbages with a lot of black pepper. The eggrolls has a salty, black pepper and sour taste to it. It was so salty. We drunk much water. I told her that I'm not going to tip them because the food was horrible. They really need to cut down on their salt or they're going to loose their customers. There was a customer standing there listening to us the while time. He say, "wow, I just got here and listening to you I don't know if I should eat here no more." I told him. "It's not worth it. You're better off going somewhere else or you can test your luck. Believed me it's salty." Then I walked out of the restaurant. The food is...
Read moreI was there during the lunch buffet so I had a chance to try a variety of items including lo mein, fried rice, sweet and sour, fried chicken and a few appetizers. Nothing fancy, but almost everything was quite tasty. The cashew chicken was mostly celery but still tasted good. The S&S pork was a bit chewy and the fried rice was a bit oily, otherwise everything met expectations.
The buffet experience was a bit of a surprise since it's served dim sum style instead of self serve. An obvious plus is the food is always fresh and hot. On the downside though, the rate at which each dish is offered made me feel pressured to eat quickly, or risk missing an offering. As it was, I passed on a few items I would have liked to try simply because my plate was already full. Turns out the items are offered on a fairly predictable rotation so I got a second chance.
Another con to this service method is the lack of control over portion size and placement on the plate. The server buried my unfinished sweet and sour and the half-used packet of hot mustard with a scoop of fried rice. I would have chosen differently if I had been operating the scoop.
I was offered no menu, so I assume they are in buffet mode during lunch. I felt rushed the entire time I was there but I was eating my first bite within 90 seconds of walking in the door. So if yours is a short lunch hour, Rose Garden is the place to go. Oh, but bring cash or a check: no forms of electronic payment are accepted.
I look forward to ordering off the menu next time, assuming they actually have one ...
Seriously, they still...
Read moreUpdate I don't know what happened to them! The food has gone downhill (quality, and flavor). Everything has become more salty, everything on the buffet seems to share the same sauce, even the lo mein is darker, drier, and lacks flavor. We used to go there every Saturday, but stopped going several months ago. Their prices are continually increasing also. I am so sorry to have had to give such an update. We did mention issues with some of the servers, but nothing changed. They just aren't what they used to be. This review is referring to the buffet in particular. We do really miss the great people that work there and hope we aren't the only ones finding alternative places to dine. I sincerely wish them the best.
Great family owned restaurant! The buffet is perfect to get a taste of everything, and they bring it directly to your table, always hot and fresh! We ordered take out may times during the state shutdown. The take out is extremely reasonable, for the amount of food you get. We ate for many days off one order between the two of us, which is great, because we could not get tired of it! We always used to go to the Blaine location every Saturday before covid, but now this is the main location until things turn around, so we try to go to this one every Saturday. It's so important to support small, local businesses, especially now. This new location is huge, and really inviting! Everyone is always so friendly. We cannot say enough good things about...
