On our recent trip to Corpus Christi, we decided to give Little Manila Lumpia House a try. To be honest, the strip-mall store front is not that appealing. Even the interior was a little rough around the edges. This isn’t a fancy place, but I highly recommend that you don’t let that deter you from giving this place a try. If you are looking for some authentic Filipino food that is very good, along with friendly service, this is the place for you!
We got the 4-count Pork Lumpia, two Siopao, and the Bistek. This food is served in unique boat-shaped dishes. The lumpia was cooked perfectly and they don’t skimp on filling. The siopao had a soft and slightly sweet bun filled with pork and chicken (we got one of each). We enjoyed both the lumpia and siopao. The bistek was served with white rice. It was a large portion that was plenty for us to share. The thinly sliced beef was tender, and the sauce had a nice hint of lemon. It was very good.
When we’re back in the Corpus Christi area, we’ll definitely stop at Little Manila Lumpia House for some food. Look past the rough exterior and put them on your list of local...
Read moreTo be honest, the food here is pretty standard Asian fare - though you do get to eat quite a bit for the price. But there are some things that I didn't like that I just can't ignore.
First, I've been here several times, and their actual hours are not as consistent as they should be. For example, they've closed earlier than their posted time, without warning, and caused me to waste a drive with friends. If you say you're open until a certain time, be there until that time!
And then there's the communication issue, and staff who don't always seem as fluent in English as you would expect. That's bad form. On the bright side, this is passable Filipino food, and the pancit is actually pretty good. You do get large servings, so bring your appetite. Try the beef broccoli if you want something that is as good as anything you remember from your childhood! Just be prepared for a less-than-appealing appearance, and a truly bitter melon sauce.
I understand that some people like their sauce that way, but it was a little much for our tastes. If you're in the area and want something different,...
Read moreA small little mom and pop owned establishment. Its not the hippest or most updated restaurant in town. Some of the chairs are worn down quite a bit, but honestly it kinda adds a little bit of a being at home feeling. What this place lacks in decor it gains in the authenticity in the taste of their food. This s as close as you get get to eating food in the philippines. 🇵🇭 definitely try their lumpia rolls and lechon, you will regret not doing so. ........they do need t have a soda fountain, they offer canned 12oz sodas. The waiters there speak the native pinoy language well and are equally friendly and helpful. I have never gotten any kind of illness from eating there, something that i really cant say about many restaurants in corpus. The veggies that they cook into their dishes are clearly fresh and tasty. There is plenty of space inside and i have never personally seen it overly full so you dont really need to worry about not being able to...
