On a whim, we tried this corner carry out Mexican cuisine. Ok, cuisine may be elevating this simple eatery but what the Hell? I say, "Rise to your potential." In a rush, starving enough to eat Mexican food for the 4th time this week; we braved this "obviously risky" establishment. Now, understand this is uncharted territory for an entitled girl from the So Bay. I love Mom and Pop small independent restaurants, but I'm thinking about Baja California, a small fishing village where the native residents carve out a meager living from what they catch that day. A women with a bucket of clams sits on the ground pedaling her wares. "How long has she been here?" You wonder if she is actually the grim reaper and these clams will be your last meal. There's a hint of mayhem in the air and I'm up to the challenge. "Ok, let's do it" I breathe deep and glance at the menu. As death is the last frontier, true uncharted territory, you hold your nose and dive. Beef Burrito it is. Here I go. Is it a coincidence that the man taking our order looks exactly like the picture of the Aviator mascot on the store sign? It is likely this is the owner and he's up to the job. Friendly and well versed on the offers he provides we struggle with the simple decision we made. Like a swimming instructor he guides our request, reassuring us we are in good hands. The regular beef burrito has green peppers and onions, slow cooked meat ( chuck roast?) and tortilla. Nothing more. We won't be satisfied unless beans, rice and cheese are added. Hot sauce? Yes please. Strangers in a strange land We break out in a jingle from Burger King "have it your way" a slogan long forgotten by its maker, appears to be a badge of honor for Alejandro's. No problem, our mustached friend replied. Wow, just wow I exclaimed after my first bite. Juicy and delicious? All at the same time?? Hellz Yez! we have found our holy grail. Thanking Costa Mesa in my mind, I can't believe I ate the whole thing. I actually kinda blanked out while I stuffed this manna from heaven into my mouth. Mom, I'm sorry to tell you this but it was better better than yours. I will return and bring the gentry with me. You are no longer the best kept secret in town. Gracious Mother forgive me, I won't be coming home for dinner. Alejandro's is right around the corner and I have a date with destiny. ...

If you ever find yourself in the area and are looking for great carne asada fries, LOOK NO FURTHER. Alejandro's Mexican Food is the place to go.
There are two options here: drive thru and "dine in." This isn't actually a dine-in though. Think drive-thru shop with a couple outdoor tables next to it.
I'll be completely honest here: I was plastered beyond believe when I came here so I didn't get a chance to explore the menu because I ordered exactly what my drunchies craving was: carne asada fries and a bean, cheese, and rice burrito.
The cashier was super sweet and obviously has experience serving other inebriated guests like myself and had us laughing throughout our order with the way he joked around with us.
The food came out very quickly, less than five minutes after I hard ordered, and it was absolutely delicious!
I'm really glad that this place is open very late, though realistically I can't imagine myself coming here during any time other than after a...
Read moreMy wife and I are on vacation and thus are not familiar with the restaurants in this area. On our way back to our hotel from the beach, we figured we'd stop by Alejandro's Mexican Food to pick up some food.
They only accept cash, which is very inconvenient (especially right now, during the COVID-19 pandemic). My wife and I do not usually carry cash, like most people, nowadays, we usually only carry our cards. Fortunately, both my wife and I grabbed whatever cash we could find at home before heading out for our vacation, and we had $16 cash, which was barely enough to pay for our food. Had we not had that cash (we usually wouldn't) we would have had to leave without our food.
The food is okay; the cheese in our burritos was not melted. We had to stick our burritos in the microwave to get the cheese to melt, not something anybody should need to do. Aside from that mishap, our food was made according to our order.
The service at the drive-thru was great, probably the best part of...
