We've waited excitedly to get the chance to go to Buffalo Jack's. Today was the day. Fort Rowdy closed early due to the weather so we were walking into the restaurant about 5.45pm. We weren't greeted particularly friendly but the lady was ok. Seated quickly and the waitress brought us drinks. We ordered immediately about 6pm. Excited to try 2 starters mushrooms and elk sausage. We also ordered Buffalo 🐃 t bone steak and a buffalo ribeye. Both medium rare. And so the wait began.... 40 minutes later my husband's side salad arrived. Over an hour later, seemed like 2 the starters arrived. What an anti climax..... both on the same plate! And not a garnish in site. Just about $1 a piece for the mushrooms. If it was elk I have no idea the sausage basically tasted of pepper, it was a pepper sausage and the battered mushrooms not great. And to make the experience really good the waitress chooses to tell me well over an hour from ordering that they had no Buffalo t bones!!! You're kidding me. She offers a rib eye I say yes in desperation, it came with fresh "tinned" carrots and sweet potato fries. Garnished with wild rice. We eat our steaks medium rare. That's not rare its medium rare, the first time ever my husband sent his steak back as it was raw not rare. Mine was not of an even thickness so I had medium to well round the edges medium to rare in the middle. Good enough not exceptional. The wild rice garnish was really good. Oh and we had to ask for refills when our drinks were nearly empty. $66's of disappointment. I can tell you the grass looked greener on the other tables. The all you could eat fish looked really good, a gentleman's prime rib looked good. We all had long wait times though. Would I go again, maybe but I'd check menu better, ask more questions thats for sure. The place was exceptional the decor the attention to detail. I loved it. I just hope they had staff/chef issues because I would love to think they...

Took my best friend there for 64th BIRTHDAY. Had to talk into due to do far from home. It is a 4omin drive from my place. This time was longer due to all the road detours. Upon entering all seats full except one. There was 2 young children at one booth in bar area!?! (Why) Only 1 waitress taking care of all the people and bar.. Their were 3 loud rude young people AT LAST TABLE all intoxicated, A FEMALE treating waitress rudely.. Cursing loudly, Ordering whiskey shot, visually drunk talking down the place. Every other word was the F word. Two men with her intoxicated also. She tried to hassel about payment for what they ordered then tried to steal a glass bowl full of food in a to-go box. The Waitress was overwhelmed with them.. The other waitress just watched. No Help There Either... Then the drunk girl tried to start fight with her Then, with Me before leaving. I ask manager to call police but she Did not... Then 5min. Later, the phone started ringing over and over repeatedly. Everytime she answered it was that girl cussing manager out causing all customers to leave.. Was not a nice meal due to waitress was so involved with bad customers. Dishes were not given to us, instead they were placed on table as we should reach over and get them ourselves. She only ask if my friend wanted more fish and brought my friend a plate not me.. The people that caused the problems shouldn't have been served in 1st place.!!! They Should have been asked to leave when they got there.. Laws say no service when your already drunk.. They were drunk when they got there..!! Aloud to leave all 3 really drunk.. This spoiled the entire place and their meals.. Our meal plus tip was 40.00 not worth it.!! never were treated with a kind word due to the conflict in business there. Not. Good B-day celebration.. we left unhappy too.. Never had such a bad meal there before. Fish soft & greasy, fries cold Sad expensive...

I had been here as a kid and thought it would be cool to take my son to experience the atmosphere and exotic food...instant regret.. we only stood for about 3 minutes at the door before we were seated .. waitress said she would be back to get our drink orders (3 of us ) after 25 minutes we finally had our drinks and after an hour we had our food. ( the restaurant was not busy enough for this type of wait ) I ordered two seperate things on the menu in which was not available and hasn’t been for a month supposedly. We all got the buffalo burger which was a very thin slice of meat that had clearly been cooked for entirely way too long, the Curly fries were burnt and tasted like a cheap fry from the local Kroger and my son got the mashed potatoes ( his favorite food ) that came out in the shape of an ice cream scoop still cold and hard as a rock .. he spit them back out ..so the food was terrible but we aren’t complainers so I paid the bill 62.00 ( cringe ) and left after about 3 bites each of our food ..the manager was HORRIBLE .. she would walk over to dirty tables and just stare at them instead of helping her staff .. it was hard to watch as one young lady busted her ass the entire night while the 3 other young employees half assed their job and the manager walked around with a piece of paper ( we were there for 2 hours and had plenty of time to observe).. when questions or problems happened they came to get that young waitress pulling her away from her job.. she isn’t the manager and made that aware .. but maybe she should be and the place might be better .. but as of right now it really should...

Update 8/26/23 The service was better with this visit. However, some of the food from this visit was terrible. The "hot" cheeseball appetizers had zero spice to them and had a weird taste. Onion grass is not listed on the menu as an appetizer, but they were able to make them. The alligator was unavailable due to being out of season and "mating season". The trail rider hoagi sandwich, buffalo cheeseburger (smaller than expected), and chicken chunks were pretty good. The walleye was inedible. The cocktail sauce was gelatinous and could be cut with a fork while keeping it's shape from a cup. The prime rib wasn't very good and had an odd taste. I'm not sure anyone in our party will be returning soon for a meal. ORIGINAL POST We sat in a booth on the bar side of the restaurant. The atmosphere was rugged. There were plenty of taxidermy pieces to look at. The service was subpar. The food was okay. There were a few exotic meats offered. The menu needs to be updated as to exclude items no longer available. The prices are very reasonable.

I forget to take pics of the food. The all you can eat walleye is what attracted me but it turns out that thanks to Bidens America supply chain issues they were limited on their menu. So I had the cod platter which was good although the cod fillets could have been a little bigger (I'm a big man). My wife had the Trailblazer which is a mushroom steak hogie whichs was excellent and hearty. Great service and value. We will go back frequently to try different things from the wild game to the pizzas and wings. (Depending on the supply chain LGB)
