Big Dipper — Restaurant in Crawfordsville

This was our first visit to Big Dipper and all we got were frozen treats. They offer hot sandwiches and sides as well.

The slushies were perfect! Very flavorful and perfect consistency.

The shake and malt we got were very tasty. (I'd have liked a little more malt in mine. Now I know to ask for more.)

We also purchased a cookie dough Razzle (think a snow storm at Dairy Queen or a light snow at McD's) and an ice cream cone with 2 scoops. No complaints from those folks!

The prices are reasonable and the service friendly. It's a small location on a corner lot with a drive-thru that wraps around the back of the building. There is a small parking lot and even some picnic tables with umbrellas.

They're not open year-round, so check hours before you go. If you miss them in the Fall, be sure to visit when they open back up...

I came to Crawfordsville to spend the day with my dad on Father’s Day. This is where he asked me to take him for lunch because my uncle told him they had the best coney dogs in town. There was a sign on the window that said “no fried food”. We stood there for over 15 minutes in the 100 degree heat waiting to place an order. They never did take our order at the window but took car after car through the drive through. We got tired of waiting so we went to the Parthenon and got a gyro instead. I’ve been going to the Big Dipper since I moved to this town last year and yesterday was the first time they messed up on my order I wasn’t upset but I ordered a large Oreo shake mixed with peanut butter and pecans it didn’t come like that so I asked if I could get another one made but was told no unless they get the other shake back but I already left town so today I asked if I pay for a shake could I not be charged extra and just get the shake I asked for yesterday and the lady got completely rude for no reason after I told her it’s the first time this ever happened to me and that I wasn’t upset I just wanted the shake I...
