This is truly a Hidden-Gem and what a wonderful unexpected surprise to have while on a random afternoon stroll along White River trail. When we got to the entrance they were closed at that time, unfortunately. However, we were still able to enjoy a little of the surrounding gardens. Each turn, by turn took us through all these different little trails, each one having its own individual look & feel. That was more than enough for us to plan a day to comeback when they were open! ... and...that’s just what we did! In fact for the past 2yrs now we have been there multiple times during different seasons of the year. We have always enjoyed being there as a family also with friends and extended family too! By now you may have noticed that I haven’t actually said any specific examples about anything there. To not have any expectations or knowledge about any one part/thing there. Hopefully you haven’t read other reviews yet & stop looking at their pictures too. Do yourself a favor, get out of the house and go enjoy this entire area for...

My wife and I enjoyed this visit. Short trip from Indianapolis and well worth the historical and educational experience concerning the man Lew Wallace. Christian, writer, lawyer, soldier, inventor, hunter, fisherman, lover of books, artist, architect, politician, world traveler, husband, father, dreamer, etc. His study has many innovative features; such as combined gas and electric light fixtures. All wood used in the interior including furniture is of white oak. Beautiful landscaping, flowers...

A chance to look into the personal and private life of one of the most influential men in US history in the 1800's. A general that saved D.C. tried members of Lincoln's association, had meetings with Billy the Kid. The author of the best selling book of the 19th century and an ambassador. By walking into his library you get to see what he read and what influenced him and his world view. Absolutely worth the time getting to know this man with well educated historians...
