I want to start the review by saying that I do have a background in culinary being an executive chef for many years and now teaching culinary. My wife and I decided to try this place for dinner and we're not disappointed. In fact, we had a great experience! I want to also say that everything there is made in house, using quality products, including the rolls for the sandwiches. My wife and I split a rigatoni Bolognese to start. The pasta was cooked al dente, and the meat sauce was authentic and delicious. Next we had a meatball calzone with ricotta cheese and mozzarella. The dough was so good as I was cutting pieces with the meatball and cheese making like little sandwiches, I can honestly say it was great! We also ordered a pizza which is made thin crust nice bubbles coming out of the oven, beautifully brown on the bottom crispy crust. The tomato sauce and cheese of a high-quality as well as the other toppings. I would rate this pizza, an 8.8 out of 10. Leaving room for the pizza meccas In New Haven. If you don't want to drive an hour, I recommend you try the pizza here! I had to try a half an order of shrimp scampi, the shrimp were done perfectly not overcooked, linguini was al dente, and the sauce is about as good as I've ever had, capers, sliced fresh garlic, lemon. I also ordered an Italian cold cut grinder to go with plenty of mortadella, capicola, salami, and pepperoni reminiscent of Franklin giant grinder in the south end of Hartford. I planned on reviewing the restaurant so we also have lunch tomorrow! It's a gem in Cromwell that...
Read moreEvery other pizza place can do half and half. All I asked for was half veggie and half Buffalo chicken - both of which are $21 each. Some places charge more for chicken and when doing half and half, I have no problem paying the higher price of the 2 halves for pizza. Here they tell me it'll be $28. When I asked why, they claim the cost of half veggie is too much because of the toppings. Are you telling me you lose money on each normal large $21 veggie pizza then? Whatever, I get home and this is what I get. Some slices have no chicken, some only have 1 piece. Whatever this is, it's barely Buffalo and barely chicken. Maybe if they had done half and half like a normal restaurant, the veggie would have turned out good. But now I have no reason to come back.
Edit: Amazing, the owner doesn't even care about a negative review. They're tripping on their ego of a 4.8 star average over 180+ reviews so they don't care about a passing bad review. I've never seen a business owner try not to do better.

Read moreI have to admit I reviewed Giulia's 3 weeks ago and gave it a rave 5 stars. I did casually mention that even though I like a thinner and crispier crust this was still fantastic and with such fresh ingredients. My wife and i just went back last night and like the previous time I only ordered it with very light mozzarella with no further instructions, expecting and happy with what I got last time. But l was surprised to see a pizza exactly the way I love it. Thin, crispy with a good under carriage and just the right amount of char. The reason I am writing again is that when i told the owner this was phenomenal he told me he read my review and made it the way I love it. I was so impressed that he not only read the review he remembered me and made me a pizza that I can honestly say is by far the best I've had since moving to Connecticut from New jersey and the best since my days eating De Lorenzo's tomato pies outside Trenton. Now that is a person who is devoted to what he does and cares about his customers. I will not eat pizza anywhere else. Oh yes, my eggplant parm grinder was once again...
