Earl’s Grille — Restaurant in Crump

We have heard so much about this place, and were looking forward to giving it a shot... really wish that we had driven on by!! One star because ZERO wasn't a option!!

We met friends there and were seated. Our waitress, Dawn, seemed very friendly. She took our drink order and came back for or food order. We each ordered a appetizer and meals on two different tickets. One appetizer came out, but not the 2nd. We stopped Dawn, she claimed she didn't hear it. It was several minutes before the 2nd appetizer came out. I suppose we got to talking and let time slip, then noticed we had been there for over a hour and NO food! Most all of our drinks were empty. We were at the very first table and "other" servers had walked by us dozens of times. No sign of ours and no one else offered to stop and check on us. We even tried to flag down the host twice with no success. From the time we noticed what time it was until the time we could flag Dawn down was another 5 plus minutes... she had not been to our table in almost if not over a half hour now! We noticed that two or more tables around us got food, ate, left, new customers came in, ordered and were eating... yet we have NO food. Dawn acted completely shocked when we told her that we didn't have any food. She then told us that she had "held our order" because of the 2nd appetizer ?? We DID NOT ask her to do this!! We later figured out that this was the first lie we caught her in... (Our guess is that she forgot to turn our order in just like she "Forgot" to turn our appetizer in.) Then her excuse was that the special took longer to cook ?? We saw others that came in after us eating the same thing we ordered... 2nd lie! Dawn went to the kitchen and comes back telling us that they are "plating your food right now"... 3rd lie! I could see the kitchen and see inside the door when it opened... NO food ready to come out. It was another 15 minutes before another server brought our food. They even looked lost when they came out of the kitchen. It is now one and a half hours since we first sat down at the table. 90 minutes!! Customers all around us have came and gone... I had ordered the hamburger steak with onions. The onions were barely cooked, if cooked at all. The steak was burnt on the outside and almost raw inside, and COLD! No temp to it at all!! I took one bite and almost lost it! It was totally nasty!! As usual, Dawn was NOWHERE to be seen!! We got up and walked out!

This was completely upsetting since it came so highly recommended. We never saw a manager, don't know if they have one or not ?? There were several employees there, but most seemed to be running around in circles like they didn't know what to do... ours obviously didn't know what to do!! Just goes to show that a restaurant is only as good as its service!! I DO NOT recommend this place and will not be back. Really hate that we waisted our time driving 45 minutes...

Let me start with, I'd really like to give this 5-stars, but had a bad experience the other night. I will definitely be going back and hoping this improves. This was my second visit to the restaurant and it was rather busy, we anticipated that, there were only two of us and they offered us a spot at the bar, which we accepted. We sat down and for 20 minutes, nobody acknowledged us. It was getting a bit awkward sitting there, people on both our left and right were getting attention, but it was like we were invisible. Even the owner poured a few drinks directly in front of me and didn't seem to notice that we were sitting there with no drinks, or anything... I finally flagged down one of the waitresses, Dawn, and she was super helpful. She got a waitress assigned to us and things went spectacular from there. The food is great, and the staff is super friendly, once the know you are there. The menu is full of all kinds of great items, which I couldn't really choose, so I opted for the Mystery Burger. If you our adventurous and not picky about what you eat, give this a try! I had know idea what to expect and would have never imagined what I got. It was 3/4lb of beef, which is standard for the Mystery Burger, topped with a Shrimp Mac and Cheese! And we aren't talking about a couple of little shrimp, there were at least 6 LARGE and very tasty shrimp. A bit messy, but wonderful! My wife ordered shrimp as well, and they were some of the best shrimp she's had away from the coast. Definitely try out their remoulade sauce with the shrimp, it was excellent.

There is plenty of parking along side and around back, so don't be discouraged if you don't see parking up front. There is also a door in and out of the restaurant on the back side, so if you park back there you don't have to walk all the way around. There is also a surprising amount of seating inside this little place. If you are in there area and looking for a fun spot with great food, this is a definite...

Don’t waste your time. We used to go regularly (about once a week) after they opened until the service started going down hill and our order was messed up every time we would go so we stopped going. Decided today to give them another chance….bad mistake. My husband ordered the BLT with no mayo and when it arrived it was slathered in mayo. I ordered the special that was pork, twice baked potato casserole and salad. I never got my salad and the casserole was not the least bit hot (including the metal container it was served in). The manager, Oriel (or something like that) kept disappearing for extended periods of time so we took it as she can’t make any decisions on her own as a “manager” and kept calling the owner to see what she was suppose to do. The only thing that was offered was free dessert. It was too late to remake his sandwich as we had waited about 20 minutes for our food the first time and I don’t want to take a small bowl of lettuce home with me but since they “offered” and we did not want it late, we weren’t compensated at all. Over $30 for a sandwich that was made wrong and fries and a piece of pork with cold casserole, unbuttered bread, no salad and waters to drink. The “manager” was not apologetic and had an attitude and was too afraid to even return to the table once she would not give any discount. Needless to say, we will not be returning and will definitely let folks know about the bad...
