I've been going here 30 plus years. Not many restaurants survive 30 years. A few things you should know about this place: It's called "Keng's Chow Mein", which means you should get the Chow Mein. I don't generally like Chow Mein, maybe you don't like Chow Mein either, but you should still get the Chow Mein. The fried rice is bland, but that's okay, it tastes great mixed with the Chow Mein. Egg rolls are good, chicken wings are good, but again get the Chow Mein and then experiment with the rest of the menu. It says that you can dine in, and I have seen people do that, but it's frowned upon. This is a take out place. If you insist on eating there don't expect service. Even if you pick up the food, don't expect service. More than once I've stood there for ten minutes plus waiting for someone to come to the desk. They don't care, they will get to you when they get to you. Think the soup guy from Seinfeld. Buy the big containers, you're gonna...
Read moreI was there about a month ago in the evening and it was delicious. Big pieces of chicken in the chicken chow mein, crisp fresh egg rolls, etc… I went there today and ordered chicken chow mein, pork fried rice, egg rolls and wontons. there was no chicken in the chicken chow mein, she insisted that was usual brought a plate with white rice and a small serving of chow mein out right away, 15 to 20 minutes minutes before the appetizers and replied to every question about the chow mein and timing immediately with “I don’t speak English so good.” I had looked forward to this and told so many people it was the best. Maybe it depends on who is in the kitchen and who waiting on you, but after this meal I don’t think it’s...
Read moreI grew up in Minnesota, and we went to Keng's after church most Sundays. I have eaten it so many times, I can smell it and taste the chow mein in my mind.
I live in Texas now, but make sure to stop in at Keng's every time I'm home visiting my dad. We got some yesterday and it smelled and tasted as heavenly as I remembered.
We love the chicken chow mein, pork fried rice, and egg foo young. I've also had the egg drop soup, which is delicious.
I wish I had pics to share, but couldn't wait to eat it yesterday and didn't snap any.
Service is always so friendly and the food is so fantastic that my brother's customer comment has been on their wall since 2007.
Love, love, love this place. Please branch...
