Nick's Cafe — Restaurant in Cuba City

Got in around 9:30 on a Saturday morning. First time visit. Was busy, but was greeted fairly quickly by a nice young lady and told 5 minute wait. Some others came in the door shortly after me, she asked them how many and scurried away I think to clean tables. As the whole lot of us waited another waitress came up, grabbed that group ahead of my husband and me and sat them in a booth and then proceeded to ask us how many. Really? As she sat that group ahead of us, the nice young gal was telling her that we were ahead of them. After that I saw a few others seated ahead of people that had arrived before them . Seems as though is you’re a regular at Nicks there may preferred treatment. We then sat and waited to be waited on. Finally, 15 minutes later we got our order in. A couple that were sat several minutes after us but were regulars got their food ahead of us and were near done by the time we got our food. Food was good, but service left a very sour taste. Doubt I’ll return which is unfortunate because I often drive distances for good food...

I wouldn't recommend this place after the poor service my girlfriend and I had this past weekend. We had heard great things about this place only to have it be one of the worst breakfasts we have ever been served. Which is astounding since they were voted to be the best breakfast in Grant county Wisconsin. Hash browns were not fully cooked and served cold evident by the unmelted cheese slice on top of them. My chicken fried steak and eggs were over cooked and my girlfriends omelet was also over cooked. The service was not unfriendly but was poor quality as we were seated after people who showed up after us and those people had no reservations either. Stopped here for lunch today and sat for over 10 minutes without even being acknowledged. Watched the waitresses wander around by the prep station refilling their own water glasses while we hadn't even been offered water or anything else to drink. 4 tables got served their food and 2 other tables that came in after us got their orders taken and we still hadn't been spoken to since being seated. I guess if you aren't a local then you aren't worth their time. I was really looking forward to eating their but I will be hard pressed to step foot in there again. I completely understand why they have a help wanted sign in there window........maybe they should start with the ones that are already...
