We went for Thanksgiving after a family illness caused a last minute change of plans. We were beyond disappointed. Normally, I give a bit of leeway when it is a holiday but this was so poor I felt the need to write a review which is only the second I have ever written. It should be noted that we had a late reservation and it was not busy so a holiday rush cannot be blamed. We had stuffed mushrooms and calamari as appetizers. The mushrooms were actually the best item we had. They had taste although the stuffing was a bit dense. The calamari was only rings and over breaded so I suspect they were prepackaged. The source was just very ok but did provide a bit of taste. The entrees were a disaster. My wife had chicken rossini which was recommended by the server. It was advertised as having a light egg batter, pan fried and topped with ham. It appeared to be a boiled slice of chicken breast that was not battered, never saw a pan and had no ham. The cheese sauce for it and the pasta was tasteless and there was little seasoning on the dish. I had the stuffed chicken parmesan. It was listed as a rolled chicken breast stuffed with spinach and various cheeses. It was a round ball of chicken with a ball of melted cheese inside with what looked as chopped spinach incorporated in the cheese. There was about one tablespoon of marinara on top of the chicken and none on the pasta which was dry. None of it was seasoned properly and was basically tasteless. For desert, my wife had creme brulee which was ok but the custard was a bit watery. The service was not great although again on a holiday we tend to expect less than stellar service. We were not offered bread although other tables were. We were never checked on and never offered an additional drink. The salad (which was over dressed) came out with the appetizers. The entrees were both recommended by the server. This was definitely a one and done.
I do appreciate management responding since it shows concern and hopefully helps address issues. I do feel there was just so much wrong it would not have been easily addressed (as management indicated) and the food/service showed a lack of regard for the patrons. We were there for a nice meal out, not to have to get into complaining and issues on a holiday. I am 68 years old, have traveled the world for a number of years and eaten out frequently. This is only the second review I have ever left but this situation was so poor it required the review and obviously disturbed me. You are correct, it did result in a very disappointing holiday meal. The review was not submitted to get a refund. I submitted the review for management to address and others...
Read moreThis was my first time here, and I thought it was pretty good. I think we caught the place a bit flat-footed, since we were overhearing that they were down 2 servers. Our server was completely unflappable however, so bravo to her! The bread for the table was almost burned black at the bottom. Just this side of a bitter cinder. Casting our eyes around the room, everyone got their bread the same way. Bad night for bread, I guess! The portions were generous and the food came out relatively quickly for the restaurant being shorthanded. The only knocks were that our waters weren't refilled and table wasn't cleared quite as timely as one would expect. (I imagine that would be a non-issue if the place was fully staffed.) I wasn't expecting so many lentils in my kale soup appetizer, but it was tasty anyhow, though light on the actual kale... kale 'shreds' - like you find in a sandwich from Subway - and only a few. Conferring with our server, my boyfriend got the bruschetta, modified. The menu has it coming 3 ways: chunky tomato/basil, olive tapenade and some kind of feta concoction. She said she preferred the tomato, which is the way he likes it. So, instead of 2, 2 and 2 of each kind, he got 4 tomato and I tried one of each of the others. They made the right choice with the tomato. The other two came out with a cream and a peach colored, smooth spread. (Think avocado toast from Dunkin.) I was only able to detect the feta flavor from the lighter spread, but BARELY: everything was murdered with balsamic drizzle. That worked fine for the tomato crustini, but not on the other two. My advice? Just get the tomato. One of the specials was chicken served over a baby arugula and watermelon salad with poppyseed dressing, so I got that. It was quite good: the chicken came out in 2 pieces, pounded flat, breaded and crispy. I would have thought it overly salty if not for the sweetness of the salad it was on. I'm a sucker for sweet and savory, which this was, yay! In summary, we didn't catch LA Familia at their best, but that didn't stop us from having a good meal. It was pretty hopping for a Monday night, and I can see why....
Read moreWe went here in December because we were in the area. The service was incredible we had Eric and then the manager actually came over Jackie to talk to my daughter.
They were so kind the food presentation was so amazing and the prices are so reasonable, not only that the portions are so huge like we can't wait to go back.
Since we went to this restaurant I have told everyone I know and clients what a wonderful place to go I'm still telling them almost six months.
It's not very big it's very quaint, very romantic and very peaceful they're only open from like I think it is 11:00 to 8 or 9 PM in the evenings.
I personally think it's a wonderful idea this way here they can go home and still have time you know to be with their own family and get plenty of sleep.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for incredible food and the desert unbelievable so delicious and presentation it's so amazing you don't even want to eat it it looks so elegant just check out their menu and the food.
They have three locations which is in Taunton, Cumberland and South Easton, MA.
Check it out you'll have no regrets! Everyone was so friendly and we had just such a wonderful time we were going through a lot and they were so comforting and just really the best people I've ever met for a first-time experience in a restaurant.
Please know we went to the one in Taunton, MA and we will definitely be trying out the other locations just for a change of scenery but keeping the hospitality wonderful and the food.
They do have luncheon specials too so their pricing is different even on the weekends, I was noticing the price is a little bit more on the weekends but you can always ask for the luncheon specials for them to honor...
