I hope everyone stayed safe after the tornado last Thursday. I live in Cypress and also suffered from it, but luckily, our family of three is safe. My husband, our six-month-old baby, and I had to take refuge at a friend's house because we lost power at home. It's during such crises that we see people's true nature, whether good or bad. Here is a story I want to share about human kindness and how we treat each other in difficult times.
I still remember that Thursday. My husband was on his way home from work. On the road, he received many alert messages about the tornado, so he called me to check on things at home. I remember looking out the window and seeing the sky darken and the rain intensify, with the wind growing stronger. Our baby was still asleep in his room. I stood inside, continuing to update my husband on the situation. When I saw the patio furniture and other items in the backyard being lifted and thrown around, I screamed into the phone that the tornado was coming and told him not to come home. He was on the highway and quickly exited but didn't know where to pull over. I told him to stop and find a restaurant to order some food and take shelter.
So, he went to Church's Texas Chicken. He parked, ran through the rain to the door, intending to go inside. Although it was still business hours and the "open" sign was lit, the staff inside locked the door and waved him away. I wondered why, in such a dangerous moment, they wouldn't open the door to help another person, a customer. I wondered if the people they turned away didn't find shelter and something happened to them, like an accident or worse, would they regret pushing someone into danger? I questioned where their humanity had gone. Hearing my husband say they turned him away made me cry. I cried out of fear and disappointment... Thankfully, he found a nearby gas station. They had locked the doors for safety but would let anyone in who needed help. My husband got inside and saw about twenty people being sheltered there. I felt relieved and silently thanked life because, despite the cold-hearted indifference of some, there were still kind and compassionate people in...
Read moreI am a fan of Church's chicken. As a fan, I want to submit this review about my food and the service so that it can be corrected. On 7/12 I visited this location at about 6:15 pm. I ordered a family meal and was excited to try the smoked chicken option. I got my order and when I got home I discovered my chicken was EXTREMELY dry. I had obviously been cooked and placed in a warmer or something to hold the temperature and sat too long to be sold. NO PROBLEM. I understand that can happen. While my family began dinner I made a short trip back to the store to see if I could get a freshly prepared smoke chicken. I had my receipt and the dry chicken with me. When I got to the window I handed a young lady my receipt and explained that my smoked chicken was extremely dry and over cooked. Without looking at my product, she told me "it was made fresh when I gave it to you". I then gave her the dry chicken and pit is politely told her that the chicken was over cooked. She took a glance and before she could say anything I asked her if she could see if there were any fresh chickens to replace the one I received. She went to the back and apologetically said , "They all look like that" . OK... "Can I replace the the smoked chicken with some fried chicken", I asked. "NO, because the price is different", was her response. I as I am starring blankly into her eyes, she says that she can give me a refund. "GREAT! " I sarcastically respond. Mind you that the refund amount is $5 dollars. She opens the window and asked if I have the mash potatoes and the biscuit that came with the meal. I said no. She said and I quote, Well in that case I can only refund you $3.00"
I said that is OK took my card and pulled off. I felt like this young lady harassed me about a mistake that THEY made by serving me bad product. Please let me know when the employees that work this shift are NOT there and...
Read moreI've ordered from this restaurant location numerous times so I feel I can fairly rate it based on my experiences. We like Church's Chicken, really we do, but at THIS location you may not be able to actually get....... CHICKEN. Yup, a chicken restaurant that doesn't have chicken. 🤦🏼♀️
I know, you're thinking you've gotta be pulling my leg; no pun intended. You'd think it was a one-off experience too. Nope. Not once or even twice but on THREE separate occasions I've gone there and they've been out of white meat or dark meat chicken. Or they're out of their famous honey butter biscuits. I could forgive the biscuits, occasionally, but when your restaurant is a CHICKEN restaurant and you don't have it - unforgivable. It's not as if coming right before close either. Not at all. Afternoon or the dinner hours and still no chicken. You'd think I'd learn! But each time I set myself up for disappointment.
Apparently there's either no management or a need for new management. I've owned a retail business before, not food, but retail is retail. If you don't have good management you have a bad store. In the case of this restaurant you have a lack of the ONE item that you specialize in.
When you are able to buy the chicken you want here it is good (biscuits are hit or miss); I reckon that's why I keep hoping that when I get a craving for Southern fried chicken that Church's will actually have some on hand. Of course, when they don't think of the...
