We live in Lakewood Grove and have passed this restaurant many times when leaving the Gettysburg entrance or dropping off our daughter at Lakewood Elementary. I decided to take my son out for lunch and wanted to try their pho to compare it to other local Vietnamese eateries.
Service: The first thing we encountered when we walked in was the owner's unfriendly demeanor. He had a serious "resting grumpy face." What struck me as odd, though, was that his attitude seemed to improve when non-Asian customers walked in. Two other groups of Asian customers arrived after us, and the same cold attitude was directed toward them—it's as if we were all treated as beneath him. It was a curious and somewhat uncomfortable dynamic.
Food: My son ordered the Pho Tai (sliced beef), and I had the special combo. Unfortunately, the broth was quite bland, and I had to add a lot of hoisin sauce to get some flavor. The noodles were fine—hard to mess those up. However, the herbs were a letdown. We received just one small stem of basil for both bowls. I had to request extra herbs and again given a dirty look. The meat, tendon, and other beef cuts in my bowl were good, but nothing stood out. Overall, the meal was decent but not exceptional. Perhaps the owner's attitude contributed to the lack of enjoyment.
With better Vietnamese options nearby and nothing particularly special about this place beyond its convenient location, I can't say I'll be returning. The building's decor and facade were nice, though, which adds a bit of appeal. But, ultimately, it was an average...

Read moreTurns out I went into the wrong spot due to someone else's neglect, not their fault. This is not a review on the quality of their food, BUT THEIR SERVICE. I stood inside this place for 15 minutes waiting to be helped, only to have these fools walk past me, look at me stupid and not ask me if I need help, a seat, etc for almost TEN MINUTES before asking me a question and walking away, without confronting me for another 5 minutes. Learn some manners for crying out loud!! When a customer walks in you help them, not stare at them for ten minutes before you finally get the guts to ask "how may I help you" before rudely turning around and walking away before I can answer you. that's time I'm never gonna get back, and now I won't go there as a customer because your customer service skills are GARBAGE. I had better customer service skills when I was 16 working my first job at domino's pizza, cmon now... I'm now a happy customer at the other Vietnamese restaurant 2 lights down, where they actually greet you...
