I recently had the pleasure of dining at El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish! The ambiance was warm and inviting, with colorful decor that really captured the spirit of Mexico. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home.

The food was out of this world!. For mains, I had the carne asada, and it was perfectly cooked—tender, juicy, and bursting with authentic spices. My partner tried the enchiladas, and they raved about the rich, homemade sauce. The portions were generous, and the sides of rice and beans were the perfect complement. We also indulged in their churros for dessert, which were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and served with a delicious caramel dipping sauce.

The drink menu was impressive too—great selection of margaritas and Mexican beers. Our server even recommended a local craft beer that paired perfectly with our meal.

What sets El Ranchero apart is the attention to detail and the obvious passion for authentic Mexican cuisine. Everything felt fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The prices were reasonable for the quality, and the service was top-notch.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant!!! I live in Colonial Beach, only minutes away from three Mexican restaurants, but I happily drive 20 minutes to El Ranchero in King George. They're the only one to make the Swiss style enchiladas (with perfectly cooked sunny side up eggs on top). It sounds weird but it's actually magical!! I don't know how to spell their actual name (sounds like enchiladas swee-sus) It's a beautiful place with wood hand-carved and painted booths and chairs and a colorful outdoor eating patio. Very clean and pleasant and always a comfortable temperature and laid back atmosphere. They are very kid friendly and our four kids always look forward to eating here. They have a kid's menu and a vegetarian section and they're very accommodating when you want to make something vegetarian that isn't (we're all vegetarians). The staff is so sweet and are always smiling and cheerful. And I love you never have to wait a long time for your food. Ordered takeout here last week. They forgot to put in my order over the phone and had to wait at the restaurant for my takeout order to be cooked. The food was delicious though.

Decided to dine in with my family. Place was very busy. Our waiter was really nice and he did a good job. However, the food took forever to come out. The waiter told us that the kitchen was really backed up, but I didn't anticipate to wait an entire hour almost for the entrees. People who were seated after we ordered received their food before us. When we got our food, my entree was something completely different from what I ordered. I ate it because I didn't want to send back my plate and have to wait another 30 minutes. We had a table of 5 and all the entrees came out at different times.

This is a new restaurant and I'm sure they're ironing out kinks. However, I will not be coming back for a few months after tonight. The food is really tasty, but the wait times are atrocious.
