Del Rio Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Dallas

I have come to the place from time to time for the past 5 years or so mostly because I always thought it was a bit pricey. The place was recommended to me because of its menudo. Today I had some menudo to go, I paid like 10 dollars (with taxes and all). Now, the thing is they add hominy to the menudo (which is not very common from where I am from in Mexico). However, in menudo the main ingredient is the cow's stomach (tripe) and sometimes feet. A regular plate of menudo should fill you up pretty good. This time, they barely put any tripe, the pieces were small and I had trouble fishing them out (because they were nowhere to be seen, scarce!). Disappointing! I get it that times are harsh and some restaurants are trying to not increase their menu prices but how dare you trying to fill me up with broth and hominy! I am STILL hungry and in an hour I will have to go and get me a sandwich or something. I ain't coming back to this place. La Hechisera (up in Bruton, Mesquite) has really really nice menudo with cow stomach and feet and they serve a normal menudo bowl.

SPANISH: He frecuentado este lugar desde hace algunos 5 anos. No es uno de mis lugares favoritos pero para el menudo a mi esposa le gusta ir ahi. Yo prefiero lugares como la Sabrosita (Bruton Rd., o La Hechicera en Mesquite). Hoy ordene un menudo para llevar , pague como 10 dólares con todo e impuesto. La razón por la que estoy molesto es que en este lugar le agregan maíz pozolero al menudo (lo cual no es común en mi region). Me imagino que es una estrategia para abaratar la preparación del menudo (el maíz es mucho mas barato que el menudo y patas de vaca). Mi expectativa es que cuando yo me como un plato de menudo pues quedo bien servido (no soy tan trago, como normal). Esta vez me quede con hambre! Le pusieron como dos cucharadas de pancita y maíz. Parecía una sopa con trocitos de carne (le hubiera sacado foto!). Entiendo que los restaurantes están pasando por una situación financiera difícil (como todos nosotros) con los precios altos e inflación, pero si lo que vas a sacrificar es el mantener tu servicio y las porciones de tus platillos pues eso para mi es una forma inmediata de no regresar a tu lugar. Proxima vez que tenga ganas de menudo ire a La Hechicera ahi en Mesquite, ahi le ponen toda la pancita y pata que debe de llevar el menudo, tal vez por unos 2 dólares mas, pero vale la pena, queda uno satisfecho. So here's my honest review. Btw this is my very first time here. I ordered the Mexican hamburger 😋 honestly I was expecting like a monster burger because everywhere you go to get a Mexican burger these things are normally huge! And for $8 you really do expect something a bit big🤷🏻‍♀️But not this one😅 I walked my ass home sat down at my table opened up my box and boom!
