What began as a simple, last-minute decision while driving through town on our way to the lake, turned into a delightful discovery that I won’t soon forget.
My hungry family and I were craving a sit-down meal that felt genuine and homemade, not fast food, and as luck would have it, Encanto Market & Cocina appeared on our radar.
From the moment we stepped inside, it felt like walking into a neighborhood secret. The warm smile of the ladies behind the counter greeted us immediately, setting the tone for what would be a memorable experience. Before them, a menu hung offering an array of tacos, plates, tortas, and burritos, each one made with care and passion.
The shelves were a nostalgic trip back to my days in New York City, stocked with snacks and household essentials, including some of my favorite Hispanic brands I hadn’t seen in ages. There was something comforting about the familiar labels and the sense that this place is a true community hub. A freezer next to the counter beckoned with homemade ice cream, and I knew I had to indulge, an instant hit with my family!
The owner, who personally took our order, radiated friendliness and genuine care. It was clear he wanted us to have a great experience, and he succeeded. Inside, there are two cozy tables, perfect for a quick, satisfying meal (though I suspect they fill up quickly during busy times, so plan accordingly.)
The food itself was nothing short of exceptional. The tortillas were soft and perfect, and I ordered the chicken tacos and al pastor, each bite bursting with flavor and that unmistakable homemade touch. The rice and beans complemented the meal beautifully, and sipping on the refreshing Jamica water added to our enjoyment of the atmosphere.
This little spot isn’t just a place to eat, it’s a community treasure. It made me wish I lived nearby, so I could visit every day. If you find yourself in the area, I wholeheartedly recommend stopping by Encanto Market & Cocina. It’s more than just a neighborhood spot; it’s a taste of home, a warm smile, and a memorable meal all rolled into one.
Trust me, your taste buds...
Read moreI work at a local school and we had a professional development day. I have been wanting to try this place out and I finally did today. This place is a hidden gem. The cook and the other staff were very friendly. The lady that took my order even tried to save me money but I was really hungry so I went for the Platillo that came with my choice of two meats ( I chose baracoa and pastor), rice, beans and 5 tortillas of my choice (corn). The food does not come with a drink but they sell bottled drinks and agua fresca. The cook came and offered me onions, cilantro and lime when she brought me the red sauce. The serving tray was small but there was a lot of meat along with the rice and beans. My food was amazing! I finished off the tortillas and the beans and rice and half the meat. I had to get a to go box because I was so full. I definitely want to come back and try something else from them as well as try the ice cream. My new favorite...
Read moreTop Notch. Breakfast tacos are fantastic and made fresh right before your eyes. Immaculate kitchen area. Barbacoa is lean and tasty. It was nice to meet you today Victor. My Grandparents moved here in the 1950s and lived within 100 feet of this store. My Mom grew up going to this store. It's been vacant for a very long time. I am thankful that Victor and his family invested there heart, time and money into this location to bring some life back into the old Fireside Grocery Store. Encanto is beautiful inside and out. I have been greeted with a warm welcome every time I have been there. Since Reyes Restaurant shut down several years ago i have been looking for a new Grove favorite. I finally found it. This is my new go to for tacos, ice cream and more. I pray that God blesses...
