McGrath's Pub & Eatery — Restaurant in Dalton

We had a gift certificate to this place to use so we tried it on a Friday evening. There was a live band setting up to play and my wife and I would have liked to hear them play but the gagging smoke lingering in the place was too much for us to handle. We ordered our food to go and then proceeded to a near by area and eat our food. The burger was slightly over cooked and had a mound of melted cheese, the thick cuts of bacon were a nice touch but over all it was just a BBQ sauce loaded mess when trying to eat it. The sampler platter was good, the fried zucchini was fantastic and the onion rings had a nice crunch. The mushrooms were on the strong side but very juicy. The chicken wings had a good coating but had been a little over cooked. Over all this was an ok experience but with this place being so far from our home I don't think we will go out of our way to try McGrath's...

We sought out this place because we had a gift card to use. First off, it's a smoking bar which is not our style, so we ordered to go.

The waitress and other bartending staff were friendly enough. As non smokers we couldn't handle being in the building long. They didn't seem to have any ventilation and the old stale smell clung everywhere. Food: we ordered a sampler, cross cut seasoned fries and the cowboy burger. The fries were cooked perfectly; crispy but not dried out. The sampler platter had a good variety and was decent. Some items were over fried but still edible. The hamburger was the huge disappointment. The meat was charred on the outside, not a nice grill mark char but actually burnt. It was so dry we actually didn't eat it.

Overall this isn't a place for us but others might enjoy that they offer live music on...

I had a very good first experience at McGraths recently. Based on my friends' recommendations, I ordered the BTS (better than sex) boneless wings and cheesy waffle fries. The portions are very generous and the sauce was quite good. Fries were done well and again, generous portion. It is very dark in the bar area so it was a little difficult to eat without a mess. Some people have noted that it is a smoking bar, but I believe state law prohibits indoor smokers when food is being served. There was one vaper a few seats down from me but I had zero problems (and I have asthma and allergies to smoke). Overall, I would definitely go back and will probably take advantage...
