Asian Cafe LLC — Restaurant in Dandridge

EDIT in 2024: I still look back to this restaurant memory as one of the worst customer services I have had, from the senior lady in the restaurant. Nothing else has come close and that says something. I really hope after 4 years things have changed. I remember the kids or the younger people in the restaurant were courteous and friendly and I hope they took over or were able to speak sense into the owner. My review here is so much more muted and mellow for the actual experience endured.

The food tasted good, but ended up with me getting food poisoning, and it could solely be my body, and probably got nothing to do with the food. The service was disappointing. They got an order wrong and brought Thai chicken instead of coconut curry. I was in the bathroom so when my boyfriend corrected the order they offered for him to take the chicken to go. He was half and half and was hoping that they're being nice and didn't want the food to go to waste so offered to take it. We were charged at the end for the chicken as well, for an order we didn't ask for, and for an order they got wrong, we paid, because you know, didn't wanna say anything. They also really wanted us to leave (we were the only customers and there was about 2 hours left to closing time), as I was moving whatever I needed from my plate to a to-go box. The owner of the restaurant came to my table, said thank you, and plopped everything from the plate onto the box even before I could say anything. It could have been well meaning gesture, but was the rush necessary? Wish they could improve their service. I want to support small and immigrant businesses, but I wish they'd improve their service, which in turn...

Happy new year! 2/2023. I just picked up a huge amount of excellent food for a great price the place was spotless. The food hot fresh and tasty! The sushi (eel) was awesome, the staff was friendly! This restaurant makes great food. Expanding menu makes it easy to please every palate...........edit.edit edit edit: I 8/2022 EDIT: Another wonderful order of food.: Hot and sour soup was amazing, Shrimp egg rolls are the crispy spring roll style and have more shrimp than ever. Ginger chicken full of fresh crispy veggies and a handful of thai basil... YUM. Crab rangoon was phat and Tasty!! Thank you guys for being there and having consistantly great food, service and prices!! see you next week. 12/18/2020. I called in another order for pickup! My last review was too simple, and too long ago. The food is still Hot Fresh and Flavorful. The Sushi is very good! and inexpensive. for the price of a single roll at any of the larger city sushi places, Here you can get a large sampling of rolls and pieces. Spring rolls and shrimp rolls are crispy fresh and filled with flavor. Portions are generous. I have never been dissapointed and we try to order two or three times a month. HUGE variety of dishes and appetizers. Lots of different flavors and regional selections. Thai, Szechuan, Japanese Hibachi style. Always clean. Friendly helpful staff! Worth a stop in and always a pleasure.

The food is great. We have not had a bad meal from here. I'm personally a huge fan of the orange chicken.

Now, regarding what some other reviewers have complained about...

I have only ever placed orders to go here. First time, I tried to phone in an order and spoke with the lady that many of the other reviewers have complained about. Unfortunately, her accent was very strong and difficult for me to understand. There was definitely a communication barrier and I believe a fair amount of frustration on both sides. I opted to hang up that day and go home. Thankfully, I returned and have since always gone inside to place my to go order. In person,  the lady isn't what you would call approachable but I think she is probably largely misunderstood. Either way, her English is better than my Chinese and I can point to the food I want to order on the menu. She also surprised me on one of my visits by giving me a beautiful piece of costume jewelry. I originally thought she was trying to sell it to me since I previously purchased a face mask from her that she had made. I was speechless and touched by the gesture. I don't know what her life has been like or what her challenges are but I strongly encourage people not to write her or the restaurant off. The food is delicious and worth it. I'll take what may appear/seem rude and great food over bad food served with a smile any day...
