Stopped in here for a late lunch. Overall it was good but definitely room for improvement.
I’ll start off by saying my gold standard for Greek is Athenian Grill in Lex. But having Greek option in Danville is a definite plus.
Appetizer: hummus & pita chips.
This was a letdown honestly. The hummus was in a small plastic side cup. For $5.95 I would expect a generous helping of hummus that would serve at least 2 people. This wasn’t enough even for me - I had most of the pita chips left over with nothing to dip them in. The chips themselves were cold and stale. I would recommend them to either be cooked longer for more crispness or just have sliced pita bread.
Entree: Classic Gyro.
This was the highlight of the experience, the meat was well seasoned and the pita was overflowing with goodness. As another reviewer mentioned, there was not much tzatziki sauce and it was mostly down in the base of the pita so it wasn’t as present in the flavor profile. They add a few fries on top of the meat which is a nice touch. There was a small cup of Chickpea salad as a garnish that didn’t have much flavor to it.
Side: Fries The fries were also a bit of a let down. They were cold and floppy. But I prefer crisp fries. Could have used a little more seasoning as well.
For drinks, the options are bottled teas, water or canned soda. I ran out of tea towards the end of my meal but it is what it s.
The staff was very nice and courteous. My only complaint is one of the staff was cleaning the front door glass using a spray foam glass cleaner and the smell was very strong. I happened to be seated by the door so it smelled like strong cleaner for a few minutes. If it were me I would wait for customers to not be in that area before cleaning the door glass.
I will be back and hopefully they will improve as they get a few weeks...
Read moreWe were craving some Mediterranean food and more specifically Gyro's and when I looked up where we could find one Aparthenon is what become an option. Went in on a late Saturday afternoon and was the only group in the restaurant. The owner greeted us and gave us a few menus but as we walked in I had noticed a sign for a Lunch Special (pictured) for $11.99 that included a Gyro, Fries and a drink. There were a few options but that is the option we decided on but you can look at the sign for some of the other choices. Meal came out pretty quickly and I was surprised to see the fries are natural cut french fries and they prepared perfectly plus the Gyro's were extra stuffed so no shortage of a meal and both tasted Fantastic! I topped it off with a canned Ale8. I forgot to mention we also grabbed the Beer Cheese and Pita chips as an appetizer and my daughter finished with a piece of Baklava. I will end it with this, the restaurant is about 1 1/2 years old and was an excellent choice...
Read moreWorth the drive! Locally owned and operated. Jimmy is very professional & friendly. The open concept kitchen is super clean & the dining is cozy & beautiful. I admit I am a Greek / Mediterranean addict & this place did not disappoint. We started off with the platter Sampler. The grape leaves were moist and delicious, the triopetkia was crunchy & cheesy but the large slice of feta covered in spices & oil was my favorite. Do yourself a favor & order extra hummus & Taziki sauce for later, it's great. The mousaka was some if the best but that gyro will always be an addition to my order. The Greek salad was fresh & beautiful and the tiramisu & nut roll topped our dinner off. Worth the drive from where ever you are. Oh, the Spanakopita was cooked perfectly, toasted yet soft and gooey with that distinct dill flavor that...
