(Some backstory): My family and I stopped by Papa Joe's for a bite to eat. We're out of town visitors and had our 27 ft long trailer with us. We had our 95 year old disabled [great] grandmother along for our trip so we had to find the closest parking spot (by the cobbler shop next door, MIND YOU FOR AN HOUR UNTIL THEY OPENED) so she could access the building with her walker. She was following behind us at slow pace, so my other grandmother went inside. (You could visibly see my great mother from inside of the building trying to make her way.) My grandma was approached and asked by our hostess to move our truck and trailer all away across the street. She tried to explain that my great grandma wouldn't be able to access the building, as it would be too far for her to walk. Instead of understanding, she started making us feel guilty about where we parked, how customers were "canceling reservations" because of where we parked, granted WE ARE ALSO CUSTOMERS...
The hostess was very condescending towards me and my family, especially towards my great grandmother. Not good customer service (and kinda ablest to be honest...).
Other than the rude customer service, our waitress was very nice and our food was good. That's why this is rated 2/10.
Glad to say that we won't be stopping...
Read morePizza was fresh and delicious. I grew up in the New Haven area and I know Apizza. I've spent my life eating the best Apizza around. Peppe's, Modern and Zuppardi's..Its very rear that I'd classify a Pizza 🍕 restaurant with an Apizza rating. Usually I'd just say that place made a pretty good Pizza 🍕. However when I discover that I'm eating Apizza I must call it out. The pie was delicious and and had all the qualities that are found in an Apizza. The doe and crust were the right texture and the sauce as well .Pappa Joe's should proud that they're an effective above most. Two thumbs 👍 👍 up for Pappa Joe's. Glad to know there's Apizza in Darien. Will be...
Read moreAlmost 5 star, almost! I don't give away 5 star very often so dont take that as a negative. Fantastic restaurant. Prices were moderate. Food was very good. Service was impeccable.
Fresh bread and a small relish tray were brought to the table. I love olives so was very happy to see the tray. Given I don't live on a coast, I often look for seafood when i travel. They had Angry-Lobster on the menu. It did not dissapoint. Very sweet lobster, healthy portions, well prepared.
Laid back atmosphere and easy to have a conversation. Will eat here again when in the area. Great...
