Moved to the area about a year ago. Have tried several times to try this place, hours are wonky. Finally got there and what a disappointment. The ambience is zero - had TV's on with no sound and NO music in the place. Was this a morgue? People were speaking to each other in hushed tones to get a little privacy since there was absolutely nothing to mask conversations. Oh, except for the guy at the bar alone with his Mazzotta Equipment Rentals T-shirt on, who thought it was OK to talk on his phone in a loud voice and use every expletive there is. Beverage menu is unexciting, limited and pedestrian. Food was mediocre at best. But the best was when the bill came. My husband ordered a Manhattan and they of course have only one bourbon that we've never heard of - he ordered it straight up (it came on the rocks), he ordered it with very little vermouth (they charged us an additional $3.25 for vermouth in a Manhattan - did these bartenders and managers go to bartending school? - doesn't a Manhattan come with vermouth?) on top of $15.00 for the drink. We questioned that and the bartender asked her manager who said, "no, that's right." Not to us. We will NEVER go back. And we entertain people from all over the country and recommend restaurants and the like - SKIP this one. No ambience, pedestrian food, mediocre service, and...
Read moreI am totally disgusted and discouraged by my experience today at the Black Bass. I will first start off by saying the food is great and I will not deny that. The pizza and pound cake never let me down and it is the best in the area. Now you may be wondering why did I give this place one star. And I will tell you why. I am a teenager and have teenage friends and while I stood up to go to the bathroom, one of my friends put salt and pepper in my drink. When I went back it was quite obvious and I asked for a refill. When she came back, there was still salt and pepper in the drink!!! I think she just topped it off with coke to try to make it like she brought me a new cup. I was disgusted and shocked because we are in Padanaram and this used to be one of my favorite places to go. The worst thing is trying to cover up a mistake. Additionally all of our food came out at different times. And I'm not talking about 2 minutes... One plate came out, the next 15 minutes later, and the next 20 minutes. I don't know why this happened all in the same experience but it did. Lastly, our waitress never gave us the usual attention she gave the other tables and that is not professional in any way. It wasn't crowded or anything either. So I am trying to get at that the service I got was terrible and I WOULD NEVER GO HERE unless it is the...
Read moreThe owner was so nice. I went to see my friend's solo show there on a slow night. Loved the bartender. She lives in my town. I talked to the bartender and the owner for a little while and even had a shot with them on the house. It was Irish whiskey so I really enjoyed it. I didn't eat there this time but I will in the future. They had a good selection of beers. The music was great! Butch McCarthy is there on Wednesday nights. I used to go there when it was a different owner but things seem to be going well there with this new owner. I wish I could remember his name because he really made me feel welcome. The small dining room is decorated so tastefully and you feel like you're a guest in a friend's home. Quaint, cozy and I'm sure the food is great because of the other details I noticed. I worked in the restaurant business for a long time and I'm really good at picking out great places to dine and this is one of them. Plus it's right on the water. You can't...
