THE SERVICE:
I was greeted by a friendly hostess/waitress who promptly escorted me to a table. The waitress was attentive and helpful.
THE ATMOSPHERE:
The interior of the restaurant is in need of refurbishing and deep cleaning. The weathered and torn booth seating, grubby carpet, grimy flooring, and dingy restroom was uninviting.
Another area of concern was the amount of food and discarded napkins on the floor around some tables/booths. There were more employees than customers while I dined providing ample opportunity for cleaning.
I observed a young gentleman haphazardly clearing table tops but not picking up any of the trash directly under the booths/tables. After he “cleaned”, a waitress later grabbed a broom to sweep up the mess he ignored.
The waitress assigned to my table kept herself busy. As I was leaving, I observed her beginning to clean another section with dirty table tops, and a lot of discarded food and trash on the carpet. She stood out as a very hard worker while others complained endlessly at the soda fountain ignoring opportunities to create a welcoming environment for customers.
THE FOOD:
The stuffed French toast was okay. After scraping off the excessive whip cream, the French toast tasted all right. The chourico hash was underwhelming. Lastly, The apple juice tasted very watered down..
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Renovations are costly, but there are budget friendly upgrades that would make an immediate difference. The tile flooring to include the restroom needs an industrial cleaning to rid the off putting grease and grime appearance. Updating the bathroom lighting, finishes, and a fresh coat of paint would create much needed brightness. Using a leather repair kit may help improve the appearance of those booth seats.
From the conversations I overheard, it doesn’t appear as though employees are happy in their working environment, and they feel under appreciated. This may explain the lack of motivation and attention to...
Read moreFirst time visiting this weekend. Went for lunch with my son, and had checked the menu before leaving to make sure breakfast was served all day and it was. When we walked in, we waited to be seated, and after a few min was asked if it was just us 2. We answered yes, and we.... Were pointed out a table! I think she may even said something like the second to the right, or Something, but I was a little taken back by this way of "seating", as most hostesses or even waitresses actually WALK YOU OVER to your seat. After pointing out our seat, she walked away. Guess she had other things to do. I just sat at whatever table, bc I had no idea what she was pointing out. We weren't given menus, and there were none at the table, so my son grabbed one from another table. After waiting a while, and contemplating leaving bc we had a time limit, someone FINALLY asked if anyone had been over. After letting her know no one had, and we weren't even seated, just pointed out where, & not given menus, she just said she'd send someone. At that time I noticed there was a specials menu, & grabbed that from another table. Our waitress comes over, and it was... The girl that pointed out our seat... I was actually surprised that after the first few awkward minutes, she wasn't as bad a waitress as she was a hostess(or she realized, tip). The food was good. One thing I hadn't noticed onloine was that lunch is not served on weekends, and my son had wanted a hot dog, but he was more than happy to have chocolate chip pancakes. The Hash was really strong and gamey so I didn't eat much. But the Eggs Benedict was good. Not sure I'll be back, but at least I finally tried it. When your very first encounter somewhere isn't a good one at all (my family had run a popular restaurant for yrs, my mom was a waitress for 35 yrs at that restaurant, so it's hard to overlook such an important thing like greeting), it makes the rest of experience...
Read moreHave gone here many times over the years and was always pleased, apparently there's been a change in ownership, so just went there very recently and without exaggeration the worst breakfast I've ever had in my life, my wife literally had three bites of hers, I ate maybe 10 to 15 % of mine, the waitress asked what was wrong (she was very nice) I told her very politely what we thought, she went to management to try and see what could be done and they literally did nothing for us, I have friends that own restaurants, and if the food was so bad the customer didn't eat it they would never expect them to pay the bill, but not at just another phoenix, I hope the 40 some odd dollars I spent there was worth it for them I will never set foot in there again, shameful, Update 6/27/25 I felt the need to respond to your reply of my review, you mentioned the waitress checked in several times during the course of our visit there, which is true and the last time she came over both of our meals were hardly touched, and she asked what was wrong I explained it to her very respectfully, and she said she was going to go back and speak to management, that would have been the time to address the issues we had, there was no discount offered, they took the hash off my bill which was burnt, and I still paid for the meals which were barely touched! Honestly I don't care to discuss this any further if you feel that you were right in charging me then that's your prerogative, I know I would never charge somebody for something they were totally dissatisfied with, and just for the record I was extremely respectful and polite to your waitress and I even apologized to her and still left her a 20% tip I had no issues with her at all, she...
