I used to love to dine here. Pollo fondito and their fajitas are a family favorite! Hadn't been for a while, so I took my teenage daughter for a Sunday late lunch early dinner after a day of shopping, and I wished I hadn't. We were seated, waited forever for a server, and when they did come over, they seemed frustrated like they had their hands full, but the restaurant wasn't busy. Chips were brought out, and they were cold, and they typically were served warm. My daughter asked for queso, it came out in a chipped bowl, and for what they charged for that big chipped bowl, there wasn't much cheese. They brought the food out and it wasn't hot, luk warm. The plates were really hot, though, so odd. I started to look around, waiting for our check, and the place just needs a good deep cleaning. I don't remember it being so dirty. We definitely won't be back. It's sad because it used to be excellent food and great service. The tab was $48 for 2 of us. Ouch! We had the queso, daughter had an order of tacos, I had pollo fondito, and we both had lemonade. That wasn't including the tip that I...
Read moreEasy to pass up from main road. Inside is a very nice Mexican setting. We ordered bean dip for the tortilla chips. The bean dip was like water. Price for the small bowl bean dip $4.50 (Outrageous!!) Most places charge half that price. We ordered a burrito dinner and a 3-taco dinner. We wanted a burrito with just lettuce. We were told that there would be an upcharge for a "special" request. I told the waiter that it made no sense. To charge extra for less ingredients. When my burrito dinner arrived, the lettuce was on the side. I ended up unrolling it (it's covered in cheese sauce) to add the lettuce and it made a mess.
The taco dinner had only steak in the tortilla. It had pico on the side but no lettuce or cheese. Afraid to ask for it and be charged an upgrade of several dollars.
This is a nice place. They need to train there...
Read moreBeen going here for 15+ years. The tacos used to be out of this world, now they're just okay. Everything else is still fantastic though. You won't find better fajitas in the Quad-Cities. The people are extremely friendly, and make you feel like part of the family. Some of their five locations are adding new dishes, such as chorizo and potato enchiladas, spicy burritos, fajita burritos, etc. All fantastic. And just because they offer hard shell tacos doesn't keep them from being authentic, as you can still order the authentic soft double corn shell tacos, with whatever meat you want topped with cilantro, just like you'd find at the "real authentic" places. It doesn't have that hole-in-the-wall authentic vibe that La Rancherita has (also good), but it does well for what is a growing local chain of...
